dividing up the brain22% Voted for by LadyAnnwn, VampireShadow.
I think that perhaps the other 90% has to do with "paranormal" things. But paranormal is just a way to put things that we don't know the answer ot in a category. So things like auras, ghosts, esp, anything that we can't explain, could be in that 90% of our brains.
k, here's a list I made one day.
10%: ~concsious O(partly subconsious) ~rational thought ~doing ~awake (parts of all of sleep?) ~used on Earth ~communicating ~WE USE IT!!!
90%: ~subconscious (farther past?) ~"voices" ~influences thinking and doing ~universe ~conneted with everything ~states of mind humans rarely (if ever) reach ~other planes ~reality passing through before becoming reality ~as far as we know, not used

That's not true, we use all of the brain22% Voted for by ExpensiveThinker, cafegroundzero.
We use all of the brain, different parts at different times, but it all is useful. (There is some redundancy, which is good news for people who have a stroke, etc).
What do you mean by conscious? Everyone uses that word differently.

False premise22% Voted for by paulh45, cafegroundzero.
This false premise is often trotted out to kickstart a conversation on, for instance, evolution - how did we evolve an organ that we only use a fraction of? Doesn't this "prove" that evolution is false?
Well no it doesn't. The premise should read "We only KNOW what 20% of the brain is doing at any one time. The other eighty percent is doing something, but we don't know precisely what"
And that only goes for "at any one time". We know what the brain does pretty categorically.

The 90% is Running a Constant LoopVoted for by david13.
Watch your brain at work. It never stops thinking stupid things. That is all it does all day long, thinking, thinking, thinking garbage thoughts.
