How much can we trust people to take care of themselves?

Since we have this safety net, a lot of people end up in it.

How can we stand by and watch someone starve? We have to feed them. So lazy/whatever people can just ‘mess up’ and end up needing welfare.

I’m not saying everyone that’s on welfare is like this, but many of them are.

If that safety net wasn’t there, how many fewer would need it?

  • The safety net creates 90% of the problems

if people knew they couldn’t mess up, than they wouldn’t.

You don’t teach responsibility by not making people answer for their actions…

  • well...

some people do actually need it and without it would die, but i know a particular family who doesn’t need but because they can get it they don’t work and act all helpless like, it irks me that they would do this, but the government does nothing to ensure they will get back on their feet. they can have the safety net for when someone falls, but make sure they are actaully trying to get back on their feet and work not just sit around and use the government!
