  • Define Magic...

Yes, I believe they can do magic, that’s why it works on me. I think magic, is about belief. If someone doesn’t believe in healing, you can’t heal them, because their non-belief makes them imune to whatever power you possess. If, on the other hand, you believe they can heal your headache or whatever else, then they can.

But if you define magic as creating a fireball out of nowhere or making potions that have some odd effect, then no.

Protection spells, healing, causing bad or good energy, perhaps even love spells… of course!

  • No

No, I don’t believe that their religion gives them devine powers. But I do believe that we are all capable of performing magick in our own lives. But like everything else, I don’t think it’s how we want or expect. Think about it, if they could do it. Then everything would be unside down. You can’t conjure a storm without repercussions. My opinion anyway.

  • Everyone has magic

Everyone has magic, although some arent in touch with it. Everyone has the magic of hopes, dreams and imagination. Wiccans don’t always follow the path of magic, some use herbs for “potions” as you may call it, but what i mean is they use them to make things like cures. They follow the path of the God and Goddess, and the Spirit, which is within us all. Some Wiccans believe in magic because they believe nature in itself is magic. For example, the way it captures you with beauty. Also, some feel that love is magic. I could go on for hours on this subject. If you want me to clarify more, the IM me.

  • Yes

Wiccans can do magick to some extent, they have better control over their lives than others, It's really a mind over matter, and they take everything really symbolic and notice things others don't

  • pscyhologically speaking

i'm a psychology student, and have read alot of bizaare stuff on how people's idea of reality can be shaped. the mind can play enormous tricks on you. the mind can be quite easily manipulated into almost any belief, and also stubbornly cling to beliefs in the very face of evidence that shows it to be untrue. I'm pretty sure that wiccan magic and spells is just seeing what you want to see, feeling what you want to feel, talking yourself into seeing and feeling it.

  • They can no more.................

........control their environment with their craft than the Christians can with prayer.

Of course they are able to affect the way they interact with their environment, but then so can anybody, whether it be under the guise of prayer or magik/magic or just simply a secular decision. We are all able to affect the way we look at the world.

  • belief

notice that all spells require 'belief' to work. most of these things do. i had a friend tell me that a crystal on a string would spin, clockwise, anticlockwise or left to right to answer yes no or maybe to questions... but it only worked if you 'believed'. now i saw her convince a friend, who was all freaked out o my god that is so scary blah blah but i hadnt seen it move hardly at all, not enough to tell which way it was going. they just convince themselves.

  • And everything has magic!

Everything is magic. It's just that what the people who have no experience with magic and invisible powers call magic, is science that is yet to be discovered. It is scientifically proven that colors have special effects on people in certain situations; it's all just a matter of being ready to acknowledge a power. There is much more to be discovered. Magic works, but I guess it depends on your definition of magic.

  • Not the ones i know

I have two friends tha claim they can do this kind of magic… in fact they are both total fakes! They use it as something to sound “cool” by, and really can’t do a thing!

Maybe real wiccans can, but not these ones!

  • Maybe

That's like asking if Christians actually have their prayers answered by God or if psychics can really tell the future. I am personally a hopeful realist

  • The power of will

The power of will is a strong thing. the belief that you can do some magic begets magic. Look at mass prair. same thing. Just another way of conjuring. Christians have church groups. wiccans have cuvins. the wiccan belief is not all about witchcraft and magical powers though. it is more of a philosophy. Being a wiccan myself, among other things you learn really quick that it's all the power of will and peices of the earth whether it be a plant, a rock, or a candle. To be a true wiccan you need a true understanding of the simbiosis with the earth. the earth gives you life and you have to respect it. You also have to understand That everything you do has an effect much like gravity. cause and effect rules our lives. Plus the "magical powers" of healing plants which arent really magical but part of the plan. there are herbs that cure an assortment of deseases and it tends to be the wiccans that have this information. Such information is powerfull and is construed as magical, and at the same time evil. True wiccans are not evil people. But they are concitered heritics. maybe one day we will in the words of rodney king "all just get along"

  • they can but...

Well as Nosferatu say they can control their environment as much as Christians can with prayer, believe me that’s a lot. The difference being the source they get their power from normally has other intensions in mind…

  • Well...

it depends on if the are natural born or they just started following the wiccan path recently…if natural born you have more magick if you convert you have to gain magick

  • Wiccans and "Magic"

I think everyone is capable of "magic." Magic is only called so, because no one can find any other word to explain it. Magic is controlled by belief. You don't have to be Wiccan to believe. Don't Christain and Catholic priests bless water to make it holy? What makes it holy, though? It is the belief that it is holy that makes it so. The same goes for magic. If you believe that your spell will help, it will. If you have doubts though, chances are it won't work. If you believe enough in anything it can become true. Despite what freemind says, however, ill intent can/will come back at you threefold. It's the same as Karma.

Wiccan magic, is not very different from Christian prayer. We ask the Mother, Father, elements, and plants to help us acheive our goal. Think about it. It's real. Everyone has it. Some just use it differently than others.

  • Sorta.

Just think though, any power that's not given to you by God (if you believe in one) has to come from the guy DOWNstairs. We humans don't posess unnatural powers on our own. We are given them from one of two sources. Just be careful which source it is.

  • I never met one that could...

i used to be pagan myself, tho i admit it was more out of historical interest than belief in magic. I met a lot of pagans and a lot of wiccans and many of them claimed to be witches and wizards and what-not, but not one of them really impressed me with any real magical powers enough to make me believe they had anything beyond an over-active imagination. I never saw one heal a wound, mend a broken item, change the weather, accurately predict the stock exchange, suddenly recharge a dead battery, program a VCR, or strike a salesman dead with lightning bolts from his or her eyes, or anything that might have convinced me to believe in magic. however, I do believe that God does give gifts, and some of these gift can manifest themselves in the form of healing, speaking foreign languages (no, not that 'speaking in tongues' gibberish charasmatics like to show off, I mean REALLY speaking foreign tongues without any prior knowledge), prophesy, compassion, animal friendship... some of these gifts are so commonplace they are hardly seen as unusual, but nevertheless, they all come from God. God is even so generous, he sometimes gives them to people who do not believe in him, in the hope that they will one day see where their gifts come from, and acknowledge the giver.
