If we were destroyed would we exist?

If we were all to be demolished now all traces of life on the planet without a trace that we were ever here... and no one knew we existed did we ever exist in the first place?

  • A tree falls in the woods and no-one's around, will anybody give a flying frig?

Things exist as the truth-value of their existence helps both the collective consciousness perform its tasks as well as the individual consciousness. When the vestiges of these consciousnesses disappear, nothing exists. When there's nothing to do, and especially no individual to want to do it, nothing exists and nobody's there to tell us otherwise and no evidence contradicts this. 2+2=5 when Big Brother wanted Winston to believe so. Winston only wanted it to equal four when he wanted to be honest. Honesty disappears when there is no use for it, when there is no desire. Again, when there's nothing to do (or rather nobody wants to do anything), nothing exists relative to this singular hypothetical evaluator.

  • when you die

nothing will exist. There wont be a you to experience any of this. Therefore, at your death there wont be "this".

  • Clarification about souls:

Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. The soul is not ethereal. All who breathe are living, fleshly souls. Souls can die. Eze 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die. It is our human spirit that is able to continue on if God so chooses. It (our human spirit), is what makes us different from animals. It allows us to reason. Rom 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: It is only through God's Holy Spirit working with our human, carnal spirit, that we can know the things of God. When we die, it is our spirit that is filed away for God. It will be used at the time of the great resurrection, along with His Spirit to recreate each of us. Eze 37:12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. Eze 37:13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, Eze 37:14 And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD.

  • HHmmm

How can something that doesn't exist be destroyed?

If we once existed and were then destroyed we would no longer exist so to any being coming to visit earth (if this still exists) they would not be aware that we ever existed. But we would actually have still existed at some point.

  • If so

then one could assume that they will live forever, simply because they exist.

  • souls

So apparently some of us know what a "soul" is and can, therefore, recognise those that lack "souls". It sounds like another noise to me.

  • The question is???

Do we exist regardless of being destroyed? You have to take into consideration our souls, or for some of us, the lack there of? Also think of this Dallas destroyed Tennessee last night 45 to 14, and they still exist. Hmmmm.. Well there you have it. Folks.

  • I would say...

that we would not exist (conciously) in the present (after destruction). but if there are bits and pieces of us still left (ie. skeleton) we still techinquely exist because some part of us is still here. sorta like dinosaurs exist. they do not exist conciously today, but their fossils still remain.

now since you want to know if nothing of us remained, yes we would still have existed. plaentologists know that there are species out there that we will never know of since we cannot find any evidence of them. but they still existed.

  • YES!

Well no. Scientifically speaking yes we existed, but philosophically speaking No I don't think if anyone knew we existed, then no as long as anyone else is concerned we didn't exist.
