Why does life have to be so complicated…Why can people not grasp that God made us…not all these scientic blah blah blah “facts”...if they are sooo smart why can they not grasp what even small children can grasp? They have to debate it all because they are selfish and big headed…???
Or you can disagree with me because that's how this site works...

Oh, really?42% Voted for by iamaparadox, solaris, Kazrith.
I apologize in advance for being long-winded. It’s a personality flaw I’m quite fond of, but others get annoyed. Anyhow, moving on…
To begin with, science and religion go hand in hand. I strongly believe that one cannot exist without the other. Evolution can’t be fully explained (where’s the genetic proof?) and neither can Creation (if God made us, why?). I do not understand how people can say that one unexplainable theory is more correct than another unexplainable theory. That’s just what I believe.
Secondly, children grasp what they are told because they have no experiences to contradict it. Tell a four year-old that God loves them and they’ll believe it. Tell the same four year-old that there’s volcanos on the moon and they’ll believe it. Tell the four year-old they can walk on water and they’ll believe you. So saying that a child can grasp the fact that God exists means that the child can grasp the fact that someone else thinks God exists. And, to be frank, we do not know any more than four year-olds do until we throw away everything we think we’ve learned and try something new.
Thirdly, scientists want to find the truth just like church-goers. Calling them selfish and pig-headed when they argue over what they think they’ve found is saying that people who argue in church over an interpretation of a passage in their Bible are selfish and pig-headed. Everybody has the right to have their opinion without being called nasty things by the opposition. I believe that falls under the heading of “God-given Free Will”, no?
Ah, this was fun. Thank you for sparking some thought in my head.

Why should God prove himself to us?Voted for by ExistentialTheist.
I suppose for quite some time I have been unable to understand why we deserve Gods presence or “hard proof”, as this simply would undermine the concept of having “faith”, a much more courageous thing to have than eyes. One must realize that if the God of Christianity were to appear to us all, we would be so overwhelmed by his greatness that the choice to accept or reject him would really no longer be much of a choice now would it? Religion does not offer such hard proof because hard proof is quite contrary to the point of religion. You might as well ask a criminal lawyer to take hallucinogens so that he can have a vision of what happened, and subsequently use such a thing as evidence in court—it is simply not his way, as “hard proof” is a thing of science, not religion. Those who want hard proof, ironically, are the same people that are not ready for hard proof. Does it really seem sensical to assert that God would want us believing in him because we found “hard proof”, or that we lived out a life of love and faith, thus finding him that way? Anyone who wants hard proof will probably be dissappointed, at least until they stop desiring hard proof, and must realize that all such attacks are based on a terrible misconception of God’s purpose.

prove it!Voted for by ohsweetie2788.
ok god made us where is your proof? i want hard proof, not well it says in the bible…a lot of things are written that are not true and my faith has been wiped out since i have been forgotten, i have been through hell and back and god did not once send someone to console me not once send someone to help didn’[t even give me a dream that said it would all be ok, if he exists he likes to toy with people a lot and likes to see us in pain, especially people who don’t deserve it. and scientific blah blah blah? how does that make sense…so far they have been right about things and at least they have hard proof of what they are saying…i am not dissing you or degrading you for saying this and i am sorry if it seems i am i am just saying if you want the world to believe you have to give us hard proof that no one can deny.

I Do Not AgreeVoted for by A Dreamer Awake.
All the people investigating things (scientists, Christians, everyone) are trying to find the truth. A person who blindly believes in something can not truly know all of what they're supposed to do and can be easily decieved into doing something they wouldn't do if they knew the truth. Like being misguided by a person of high esteem like a priest or some such person. We aren't perfect, and everyone makes mistakes, even priests. Some people don't want to be misguided, and they want to know what is right and what is wrong. I don't see why you seem to look down on that. Yes, people are curious, what is so wrong with that?
Some people just cannot put faith in what is true or get confused about the true facts about things. Just because someone is smart doesn't mean that they aren't misguided. I think that we should be glad that we have intelligent people searching for answers. If people didn't look for the truth, maybe they wouldn't even attempt to look for the truth about God, and just go through life without thinking.
I believe it is good to think, for we must be able to interpret as correctly as we possibly can what God wants us to do, so that we can do it. So, please don't look down on people searching for the truth. They simply haven't found what you've found yet. You should try to help them, not put them down. How will looking poorly upon them help them to come to God?
Also, many of those people will take impressions of Christians to be what Christianity is all about. Please be a good example (not saying you're not in most cases), and don't give people a bad impression by looking down on them.
If you were in their place and didn't know God, how would you react to someone insulting you, saying that "If you're so smart, why can't you grasp what even small children can grasp?"
I don't think you'd look highly on that person, and if you were the type of person to develop stereotypes, yours of a Christian would not be a good one.
Please think about how others would feel before writing things like this, and please be open-minded. I don't want to sound like I'm lecturing you as much as I do, but I do not like it when I see people putting forth poor images of a Christian's view point. Yes, I consider the view you presented to be a poor one. I'm sorry I'm being so harsh, but so many people already have a bad stereotype of what type of people Christians are. The whole Aztec killing and burning witches are enough to turn some against us without them even knowing any Christian people.
So, please don't look too unhappily upon me for writing such a forceful, commanding opinion. I simply want to try to help people to understand that Christianity is not about being perfect, what Christianity really is, and trying to help people to not have terrible stereotypes of us.
Please follow some of my suggestions, and like I asked before, please do not be too angered with my reply. I hope that I have not upset you, but I meant every word I wrote. Every word is important, and I hope that you pay heed to my advice.
