I bought a dream interpreting book ("10,000 Dreams Interpreted" by Gustavus Hindman Miller) and I've been journaling my dreams and trying to decode them. Most of the things in the book are long-term applications to life so I won't know if it is right until a long time from now, and some of them were very vague. But recently I found one that seems like it may be credible.
I was having confusing times in my relationship at the time, and hadn't spoken to my boyfriend for a little while so I called him one night. It was maybe 11:30, and I was planning on going to sleep right after I talked to him. He broke up with me right then, only giving me a vague discription of why, telling me there was nothing wrong with me but not giving me a real explanation. I was confused and laid awake for a long time, trying to sleep but not being able to help but think of every little thing that was wrong with me and which of them were the reasons I was dumped. I finally fell asleep, and I dreamed this: I was with my good friend Kitty. She was acting in a play in the theater near where I live, so she was staying with me. The play was a Shakespearian tragedy I'd never heard of(and that probably doesn't exist outside of the dream.)It was night. She was sitting in the swivel chair at my desk. I was going to go out to the fridge and get a drink, but as I was turning the doorknob to leave the room I hear Kitty's terrified voice say, "Wait." I'd heard the voice across the room where she was sitting, but when I turned to look at her she was standing right next to me, almost touching me, like in horror movies where something demonic appears to come up to you incredibly quickly. Her skin was suddenly very white, her eyes wide, and she looked absolutely horrified. She said, "Don't leave me, this is where I'm going to die." I said, "Just come with me." She grabbed my wrist in a deathgrip I could not pull away from, and she was very cold. I pulled her along with me and got us drinks. When we returned to the room, she sat down in the chair and she looked just like she usually does, and was talking and laughing and being weird like usual. After awhile, I get up to go use the bathroom. Again, my hand's on the knob and she says, "Wait. Don't leave me. I'm going to die here. I'm going to die right here and you won't even be here to see it. I'm dying now." This time she stayed put and I left to go to the bathroom. I could hear her talking to herself quickly and nervously as I entered the room again, but as soon as she saw me she started to mellow out again.
When I woke up, I looked it up the dream in the book. I looked up what it meant to see someone in your dream who was terrified. This is what it said:
Affrighted- To see others affrighted, brings you close to misery and distressing scenes. Dreams of this nature are frequently caused by nervous and feverish conditions, either from malaria or excitement. When such is the case, the dreamer is warned to take immediate steps to remove the cause. Such dreams or reveries only occur when sleep is disturbed.
Obviously, it wasn't because of malaria, but the fact remains that my troubled sleep was a disturbed one. And I was distressed some.
Coincidence? Or do you think there could be some truth to it?

Dreams are your brains way of analysing the things you've witnesse while awake. Therefore I believe you can interpret dreams and if you do it right it can help you make the right decisions

SymbolismVoted for by Oral Fixation.
Your brain is an intricatly developed system, a perfected masterpeice.
Many things witnessed in a dream are symbols, just as a stop sign symbolizes to stop moving your vehicle. Therefore, on a more subtle, low-key level, a cat could symbolize curiousity, or a tornado symbolize the stress and angst in your life.
So, maybe if you're having dreams about food falling from the sky and on to your pregnant belly (even if you're not pregnant), maybe you need to energize your best friend or partner (someone near and dear to you), or just go get a snack that's in a two-serving container.
Bottom line, dreams can be missinterpreted.
Plus, girls, most of us just have crazy-ass dreams on our periods. I had a dream about the movie 'The Hitcher Two: I've Been Waiting', and Jake Busey sliced my back all to shit with a machete (that knifey sword thing) and when they pulled me back into the little shopping mall/military base thing (I'm drawing a Dawn of the Dead scene in that.), the words 'I've been waiting' were on my bloody back.
I also actually dreamed I was dying. I died in my dream. But here I am.
