Alright, so here's my deal. I have always been active in the Christian church. I was baptist, then moved to 'non-denominational'. Recently however I've been talking to a very good friend of mine who is mormon, and i have been going through the lessons with the Elders.
I finally told my mom, basically it isn't gonna happen. And for a while there was peace in my heart with my decision to stay at my church, but then, this cropping up feeling attacks me.
WHAT IF I"M WRONG?!?! If the church (LDS) is sooo wrong, then why do I keep getting drawn back into it? Why do I find myself still asking questions, and still being interested... is it satan over rulling, or God sending a sign?
Is it a test of faith or a guiding hand?
Another interesting thing, I was not wanting to tell my youth minister, and So i prayed about it, now my youth minister is moving away to missouri, which would mean that I wouldn't have to tell him.
Still, God or Satan?
I need help!

Satan and God are not tugging at your official religious beliefs, and they are not making your minister move away. Worship God however you feel most appropriate, and do your best to be a good person in this world.
Buddhists, Wiccans, isolated tribes, and ancient cultures didn't have the same God of Christian and Jewish and Muslim faith. This was not because Satan was tricking them into not going to God, or God's not pulling them towards Him too much, it was because they had never really heard much about them and/or preferred their own religion.
There are good people and bad people in most any religion. Randomly choosing the formal practices of worship and hoping you were correct is no where near as important as just being a good, honest person.
PS I like your name.

Religion doesn't seem to matter really. Why waste your time sitting a room listening to someone babble on and on about a book? Why pray to anyone? Your life is effected by you and is about you. Just forget about religion and enjoy your life. I'm pretty sure you'd be happier

Neitherism. Not to be confused with netherism ( a religion of the nether regions). Neitherism is a derivative of grantism (grant me a wish). Grantism derived from wishcraft. Not to be confused with witchcraft or whichcraft. The craft of not knowing which is which or which is the witch, which brings us inevitably back to Neitherism.

If you believe the bible is the word of God. Then the only way to determine what is right is to base your information on it. Whatever church or group that you are considering should have their doctrines compared with those of the bible. Prove all things and hold fast that which is good. If the doctrines disagree with the scriptures, it is wrong.-------------- Consider the following: (I will just reference the bible verses so that you will look them up and read them for yourself). The ten commandments are the law of God. They are in force today. They did not "die on the cross". If the ten commandments have been done away with, then Jesus is a liar (Mat 5:18 ). That means that the fourth commandment is still in effect ( the sabbath). Or else, not only Jesus, but God too is a liar (Exo 31:13). This is the seventh day (saturday) sabbath kept by Jews today. Jesus was a Jew. He kept the seventh day. How is a day reckoned in the bible? (Gen 1:5). so we see that the seventh day (sabbath) is to be from Friday at sundown to Saturday at sundown. Is there any scriptural authority for changing which day is the sabbath? Absolutely not. And we have already seen that God commanded that it be kept in ALL our generations. Did He lie? Constantine changed it so that the people wouldn't Judaize on the sabbath. The catholic catechism says that the authority by which they changed it was the fact that nobody disagrees with it. So, is the original, seventh day, sundown to sundown, sabbath still in force? If, based on the evidence, it is, then all churches that don't adhere to that doctrine cannot claim to be God's true church. We know that to break the law is sin (1Jo 3:4). And if you break one law,you break them all (Jam 2:10). How could any church that does not have this doctrine lay claim to the truth? So the admonition stands. Prove all things and hold fast that which is good (1Th 5:21). If anyone (minister, mom, dad, friend,) tells you different, they are wrong.

I disagree with Weydon, however, as I most usually do. Your plight is evident in many, particularly the fideist or the doubter.
Do not stick with it if you haven't been drawn by revelation or a spiritual occurence. It is good that you are open to 'sus it out', but I believe, if you truly trust that there is a benevolent Creator (realise 'of' Him but do not directly commune with Him), and you are willing to trust and believe in the greatest of overwhelming convictions and revelations (and this does bring about the imminent problem of deception, but that is why it is not an easy task), then, with such faith and trust, believe that through fasting and prayer, that God will show you the Way in which He wants you to walk. I have heard many stories about muslims who were muddled and confused in their faith, and prayed to God/Allah for enlightenment, only to recieve dreams of Christ, leading them to conversion. It is my belief that you can do the same. Your heart seems right with God and able to recieve truth. I wish you well and pray, hope and believe with you, wholeheartedly, that God wishes to show you the Way, and His love is upon you.
Take care.

I have seen too many people hurt by religeon. I wouldn't put so much energy in wondering who is doing the pulling because there is no counterpart there. Religeon was and is meant to give people hope, bind them together as one and to control masses. Look around, you'll see it everywhere! What is God? Maybe we are all just crazy, hoping for something that just isn't there. Follow your heart, do what is right and just, be a good person and remove the fear. You be fine.

If you are thinking of becoming a Mormon You would be better off not believing in God. The Mormon faith believes when you die you become a God had get your own little planet to control. GGeezzz...The Mormon church is a what I consider a cult. I've read books on their faith. Very nice people but but they're as lost as can be.

Satan and God are ONE, AND THE SAMEVoted for by david13.
What happens when something happens to you in a relationship. I mean like when something goes wrong and the other person breaks it off without communicating to you WHY? WHY is a bastard. Asking why reaches deep into our minds. If you weren't given an answer, or you didn't understand the answer, OR you refuse to believe the answer that your ex-partner tells you *then* YOU FILL IN THE *WHY*. You fill it in with either something good about the other person (GOD) or you fill it in with something bad (SATAN) about the other person. THE TRUE GOD IS THE VACANCY. GOD IS EMPTINESS. Nothing can be said about God (or Satan) because they are figments of people's goodness and evilness.
Look, religion is for who don't have the courage to face the REAL TRUTH: YOUR LIFE IS A ONE-SHOT DEAL. When you die, you won't ever know you ever lived. You go back to vacancy, nothingness, emptiness. THAT TAKES COURAGE TO ACCEPT.
ONLY CHILDREN need comforting. They need a teddy bear to hug at night because of fears. Face the truth, man, YOU GIVE YOUR MEANING TO YOUR OWN LIFE.
I know it is almost impossible to get out of the cult of religion. ALL RELIGIONS ARE CULTS. You've been brain-washed since you were a child. Seriously, the odds of you coming to KNOW that religion is false will take you many years. It took me 30 years to know without doubt that what I once believed was a fairy tale. I feel so stupid for having believed a joke for a story.
I tell you this, and remember this for the rest of your life: THERE ARE NO CONSEQUENCES TO *ANYTHING* YOU DO, *EXCEPT* FOR WHAT OTHERS WILL STOP YOU. No rewards or punishments from God. NO heaven or hell. JUST MAN. ONLY MAN IS THE JUDGE OF YOUR ACTIONS. AND ONLY MAN CAN ACT.
*GOD DOES NOT ACT* Only man, and Nature.
Get out of the cult of religion. Find a girlfriend/boyfriend and get LAID. Believe you won't give two shits about stinkin' religion if your desires are being satisfied.
Religion are for losers of life. Religion is for people without the mental capability to accept that there is NOTHING ELSE in the Universe EXCEPT FOR US. KNOW THAT. AND HAVE COURAGE TO LIVE THAT.
You create your own morals. NO GOD jugdes your moral system except MAN. Serial killers are not judged. The Zodiac Killer killed a few dozen people and never got caught. He is still free today. Hitler killed 6,000,000 Jews. GOD DOES NOT JUDGE. ONLY MAN.
Do what you want. NO GUILT. Don't feel guilty. DO WHAT YOU WANT. You are your only judge, aside from the judge of our society and its laws. As long as you abide by the laws YOU CAN DO ANYTHING (but be careful because others can take the law into their own hands). Guilt is a mechanism TO CONTROL you. Again, do what you want. MASTURBATE in front of your dog. Do your dog doggy style. It doesn't matter, so long you do it in the privacy of your own home. NO MAN CAN JUDGE YOU IF THEY DO NOT WITNESS YOU. When you are alone, the only judge is YOURSELF. The Church has used guilt to control you when you are with yourself. They cannot judge you when they are not looking so they use the GUILT MECHANISM to control you from afar. They tell you about beautitudes, the Bible, the Commandments, the teachings, the sermons, the warnings. I break the commandment everyday. GOD YOU STINK LIKE A DOG. Nothing has happened and nothing will.
Just be GOOD. That is all.

Well said. But Jesus said "I will build my church", not churches. If there can only be one "true" church, how can we tell which it is? There are too many "Christian" churches, they can't all be right. Jim Jones was obviously wrong (though he may not have thought so). Koresh obviously thought he was correct. We must be able to find the right one. Jesus said "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it", so it must be able to be found. What criteria is required to be the one true church? Of course, the answer is in the bible and I believe I know, but the challenge is set. How can we know what is the true church of God? It can't be that we just believe in the death, burial, and resurrection.
(Jam 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. ) + (Jam 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? ) . The devil knows these things, does he have salvation? What are the works that make our faith a living faith?

- The elect are those "called out now" to do the work of God in this end time. They must overcome (conquer) Satan now, before Christ returns. Whereas, everyone else will be able to accept Christ at a later date, after Satan is bound up and therefore not able to influence them. The bride, by nature, is the helpmeet of the husband. It will be the elects job to help in bringing as many as will, to righteousness. The elect will be kings and priests in God's kingdom. The elect are also in a very dangerous position right now. If they fail and continue in sin after being called and do not repent, they will lose their eternal lives now. The reason the stakes are so high for the elect/bride, is that there will only be one bride of Christ - forever and few will make it. To become of the elect, you must be called by God, and only God can call you for this position. Once you become one of the elect, you go immediately to the top of Satans hit list. He doesn't really care about the uncalled. They are not doing God's work anyway. But the elect, if they can't conquer Satan now, in this life time, in this point in history, then they will die the eternal death. Satan can knock off an elect because they are being judged now, whereas the population in general is not. Sorry I went on so long.
