  • Me too

I didn't like my name as a child I think because it was unusual. But now Gwyneth Paltrow and that guy from Coldplay have made it more acceptable.

  • It's unusual... not weird.
My name means: "Sacred name, of God, Holy name."
    NoeL means: "Born on Christmas"

... I think it's quite fitting for an atheist

  • Nope

Yesterday I found out that my name fits perfectly to my person, and my birthday. My parents thought that a good name for their daughter would be Ana..and I love my name because it is almost an international name, and short and simple(I didn't like it as a child though). Yesterday I was doing some research on my date of birth, and found out that in Scandinavia(mostly Sweden) there is this holiday called Ana's Day exactly on my b-day, which recognizes everyone named Ana. What an interesting coincidence.

  • My name and star sign

I hate my name Laura, I've always wanted to be called Lauren!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also found out that Laura means the crown and leadership, which fits in soooo much with my personality and my star sign LEO!! I asked my mum if she named me for this reason she said: No I named you after one of the characters out of Little House on the Prairie because I liked her.... THANKS MUM!!! lol

The name spelled normally is odd, but it's odder the way I spell it.

    Johanna

But Steven Sondhiem (sondheim...something) would approve. Actually through the seven steps of whatever we know him. My dad sends him a b-day present every year.

  • Yes
I do consider my legal name odd, but I consider most names odd and expecially the reasons for which we name our children.

I was never fond of my birth name. I didn't hate it either. I was named after a character on Big Valley, so it was, according to my mother, chosen because she found the character attractive.

We seem to choose many name more for the sound or the memories or feelings they conjure. When we choose the name of a newborn, we do so without any knowledge of what that child will be like and how fitting the name will be.

By the time I was eighten, I chose a new name - the first being somewhat androgynous, the second being my original middle name, and the last one I concocted, having personal meaning and a visual and audial aesthetic.

  • Noble Beloved
My named means 'noble beloved' which was purely by accident as I was named after both of my grandmothers, Patricia and Marie.

As far as I know both are Latin especially my first name as the Patricians of Rome were the nobles. But I do wish sometimes that I had a name that was more my own that after two family members.

But it is a big tradition in the Irish and Sicilian family to simple name people after others so I may end up doing the same. However I have vowed to make the passing of names the middle names as I prefer names to come from things like literature. Places that have influenced those who are naming the children rather than just relations.

  • King?
My first and middle name, "Mason Steven" translated to roughly "Stoneworker-King" Does this translate to leading the stubborn or something more literal like being the boss of a construction company?
