Not sure everyone does20% Voted for by frndofyaweh, Dwn, Esfuerzo.
With power comes broader responsibiliies. Everyone does have a certain amount of it, however. I am a father, equals parental power, which requires a decent amount of responsibility. Now if I were king and I actually treated all of my people as my children? PHEWee! that sounds like a heap of power I don't want. Maybe I'll be one of the kings advisors

Power or ?Voted for by Energizer Bunny.
I don't think it's power in so much as it's the feeling that comes with knowing you have power. With some people I think it's like a drug. That feeling gives them a rush.

Men Desire Power Because That's What Women WantVoted for by david13.
Women are not seeking power. Women are seeking Beauty because that is what men want. Men seek power because that is what women want. It is a need that is innate in our corresponding natures as the two genders. Now, with the world view of external only, men seek power through external means which is status, money and influence. This is not enough, and relatively easy to get since the ones who get this power do so by family LINEAGE. The TRUE seeker of power seeks power from within. The power from within is what Buddha and Jesus attained. Today powerful people are bland: Bill Gates, The Bush Family, Donald Trump, etc. They have no soul for the most part. Gates might be an exception because he has more intelligence. The only way for power to internally driven is for women to seek out mates who are internally powerful. The most beautiful women must seek out the most internally powerful men. Unfortunately, women are lagging behind in true beauty. They also desire external power which makes them brittle like fine china. The world today is dominated by externally powerful and beautiful men and women who are empty shells of a human.

"your just gonna die anyway."
So? What matters is that we are alive today. What's wrong with living the way you want to live while you're alive?
I think power isn't always a way to control others. It can be, but I think alot of people seek power to control their own lives without the influence of others and without trying to influence others as well.

To have power is to have control over others, and those in your control can (theoreticaly) not control you.

A reading from Thomas Hobbes' 'Leviathan'Voted for by Auxiliar.
"For there is no such finis ultimus nor summum bonum, as is spoken of in the books of old moral philosophers. Nor can a man more live, whose desires are at an end, than he, whose senses and imaginations are at a stand. Felicity is a continual progress of the desire, from one object to another; the attaining of the former, being still but the way to the latter. The cause whereof is, that the object of man's desire, is not to enjoy only once, and for one instant of time; but to assure for ever, the way of his future desire. And therefore the procuring, but also to the assuring of a contented life; and differ inly in the way: which ariseth partly from the diversity of passions, in divers men; and partly from the diference of the knowledge or opinion each one has of the causes, which produce the effect desireed.
So that in the first place, I put for a general inclination of all mankind, a perpetual and restless desire of power after power, that ceaseth only in death. And the cause of this, is not always that a man hopes for a more intensive delight, than he has already attained to; or that he cannot be content with a moderate power: but because he cannot assure the power and means to live well, which he hath present, without the acquisition of more."
One may despise Hobbes for his views on love, God, sense and destiny, as I do, but here he's spot on.

Its just me but...Its just what we know, The human (Homoerctus) has been the backbone of the earth for ever... We are the smartest, wich gives us ultimate domain over the lands. And by obtaining such dominion we feel, as humans, we have to be the smartest...among the many...I say it's just our nature it's just how God intended us to be....Live with it....just playing.Voted for by Subway.

Ego baby, its simpleThere's the mind and then there's you.Voted for by Sagapoet.net.
You use your leg when you wish to take a step, your hand when you want to grab a cup of coffee, your mind to think out a solution to a problem.
Trouble is, people, worldwide have become identified with thier minds. They identify themselves with who they are through all their thoughts, bad and downright destructive ones at that.
When you have taken a run you strecth your leg, when you have hit a bat you strecth your arm, and when you have used your mind all day you meditate, clear the thoughts and clean it out. But that is just not how the majority of the world works, or mostly the west at least: we have forgotten to ease our minds out, and as a result it has taken on a will on its own, judging, obsessing, telling you how everything is gonna be better in the future- never content with the here and now.
The mind can only be in control as long as you continue to identofy with it. And people DO identify themselves with it. That is why a person become angry when another offends, he thinks that it is an assult on him, (his mind) and therefore need to give equally from the same drawer to inforce his (mind) excistance. NO OUTER FACTOR WILL EVER DETERMINE WHO YOU ARE: Car, wealth, a fancy suit, a fine house, a fine wife, hundreds of friends... the mind seeks power to excist, it is the false self, the ego. So as long as people are not streching thier minds it will take control of them... wouldn't you be annoyed if your right hand decided to take on a will of its own, your leg a will of its own, you wouldn't be in controll would you? but there is the bastard also, most people are not in control, a little nudge and thier mind flares, body reacts... hehe, hard to explain it, but I guess you catch my drift.
Love to you for reading this my friend. Now, go out and smile at the first person you meet eh, and if he don't smile back, heck, bless him and prey for his wellbeing... you have always been who you are, even if the mind has clouded yourself from... eh, hehe yourself...
So in short; humans (run-away-minds) seek power to inforce thier sense of excistance. The ends never justify the means when you are killing people in the here and now, and that is all there is, the constant and ever unfolding now.
