Over the past sixty years circumcision of males that are neither Jewish or Moslem gained popularity in English speaking countries. Since then it was waned and all but disappeared in all except USA. Most hospitals still offer the mutilation, insurance will pay and doctors do.
The backlash to SAVE circumcision has raised many strawman arguments such as hygiene, STD, urinary infections as a frantic effort to keep the mutilations alive.

It started as an ancient religious practice. I do not know the full significance.
In the last century, it was considered more sanitary. It was still an on going religious practice.
Now I understand it may heighten sexual stimulation.

First of all Jesus christ was circumcised, and seeing as how the US is called like the “christian nation” (I myself being a christian). Actually I think it reduces feeling. Not quite sure i’ll have to go look it up. ~jazzy

People forget the original reasons, and begin calling them ‘strawmen’. Such things continue to mindlessly happen because the social structure has been set up for it, and if it’s a trivial matter, no one cares enough to re-question of alter the practice. I’m sure if a profit could be made by ending it, someone would be trying!

the first time they talk about it in the old testiment was when God tells Abraham to do it to himself and that all males should henseforth as an "everlasting coventant with God."
so thats where it started it think. i personally prefer it coz its a tradition and it looks better.

NO, not quite
You must be female or circumcised. The foreskin evolved for two reasons I believe. First to protect the glans underneath. The second, to keep the penis glans highly sensitive. After circumcision the fren ulum under side of penis usually atrophies. The nerve endings in the glans receed and the top layer of cells on the glans die and become thickened without nerve interventions. Less sensitive. You have to respect that Nature designed the genitals of men and women carefully and no part without a function. In adolescence some boys have a brief shed skin tissue called smegma form. In late adolescence this smegma disappears in 95 percent ot more of men.May 12, 2005

Let's clear up a BIG falsehood here. Smegma is produced in large quantities as long as a man still breathes.
