It's all about the music !

Do you think that Music is a positive or negative influence on society ?
Do you think that the music industry should be harder on rules in what goes and what doesn't go?
What about some of these music videos? Do you think that they are positive or negative?
I am not going to single out one kind because there are TONS of music ( Rock, Rap, Christian, Pop, Religion, Etc etc ) so just in general what are your viewpoints on music?
If you think ONLY YOUR MUSIC you listen to is right and no other music should be allowed..then WHY WHY ??
  • Give each genre a chance...
Often Music is about more than the simple listening of songs that they like. Often shared appreciation of music gives a person an identity in a group, such as a 'grunger' or whatever...

However restricting yourself to a certain type of music because of it not fitting into your image, or because of the lifestyle of those that enjoy it, is in my view very foolish.

I would call myself in general a person who likes rock music, but i enjoy songs and artists from genres as diverse as meditative, jazz and the heaviest metal. Forming a pre-listened opinion on a song just because of the genre can often mean you missing out on some brilliant tracks purely due to your prejudice.

  • Music Therapy
The ability to respond to music is something we are all born with. No matter your colour, creed or handicap.

Currently music is being used as a form of professional therapy by introducing people to a means of expressing emotions that are otherwise trapped for a variety of reasons. As with other art forms music allows freedom from the constraint of words allowing the divulgence of feelings or thoughts by sharing and releasing them rhythmically.

We all use music to cheer us up or calm us down even the opposites. We create atmosphere using music it is a powerful thing, and just as heterogeneous as we are.

"The rhythm of life is a powerful beat...puts a tingle in ya fingers and tingle in ya feet..." I think by Sammy Davis jr, thank you Sammy!

  • What I think
I think that music can be very healing to the soul depending on what kind of music it is.
I think that is what gets on my nerves more then anything are people who feel that ONLY THEIR music is right.
If you're really depressed and put on a depression song I think it makes the situation worse and therefore prooves the theory about music.

I grew up listening to all kinds of music and I absolutely love it. I love all the forms except rap. I just cannot get into it at all. But, it's okay for I'm cool with the idea that many are .

I think it is impossible for music to be bad. Lyrics on the other hand is a totally different story . Take the most vulgar song you can think of and take the lyrics out and you will most often have beautiful music.

  • Music is Greek term
Mudgod is correct again.(look under Kamala Kari's comment titled, What I Think)

Music is Greek. It means; to offer praise of something. Now look up the word praise?

you will see that praising a person or subject of any kind, gives it edification or power and confidence.

If you sing a negative song, you are giving praise or power to the negative message.

"...and through the air and on the breeze, a song is carried to bend your knees."
