In order to fuly explore the dream world that exists in your sub-conscious, you just need to practice. By building up experiences of dream control can eventually lead you to full control. And that is an awesome thing. Just practice asking yourself if your dreaming. Not many people ask themselves that while sleeping or even when they're "awake" But be careful not to push yourself too far. Dreams are created and experienced to help us get a grip on our conscious lives (our "Waking Life"). Good luck.

I don’t think I am the only energy source in my dreams.
When creating visualizations of both my energy and the energy of others I may be bound by the imaginative limitations of the group. This could explain why I have a hard time flying in dreams when I would think that I should fly quite easily. I must cooperate with forces, which are clearly beyond my control in the art of creating a universe that must be acceptable to all involved.
I have more power in dreams than I do awake in choosing my environment however I am nonetheless unable to dominate it completely.
Dream worlds are as real and as social as physical worlds they just don’t include the body or the five senses and I create the images for the energy, which is given.

Just be glad you’re getting enough sleep to have dreams! The closer you are to being awake, and the more rested you are, the more control you have in your dreams. I’ve been there, where I realized I was dreaming and said, “Oh, now I can fly!” and I flew. Fun. But not during nights of 4 hours of sleep!

Ok, so there are times when I’m being chased (dreaming) and I realize i am dreaming. My first thought is, oh great, now I can just think of something else or grow wings and fly away. BUT ITS NOT THAT SIMPLE! i hate it how it is. i try to fly away (getting into the air is easy) but sometimes flying is like the air is molases and i sort of need to push myself up and swim through it. other times i just sort of point myself and say i want to go there. but of course it can’t be that easy. sometimes i can’t get high enough off the ground, and i can get cought, or i just sort of sink down, orr there is this barrier that i just don’t cross. like i cant think or immagine anything being there. its like my mind wants to trap me. i hate it. but it doesn’t happen all the time. once i tried to immagine myself flying over a forest afterwards so i woldn’t be distracted back into the chase. but it’s just wierd. its like, when im dreaming, my immagination and creativity are used against me.

I think that in a dream a person usually retains,at least on a subconcious level, the restrictions of physical reality. For example, because that didn't even make sense to me:
Say you're having a dream where you're flying. At some point, you look down and realize that you have exeeded your true physical capabilities, and so on some level you're forced to accept that you could not possibly be flying, thus you fall.
does that make any sense? I understood what i was thinking about right up until i re-read my comment lol
