Giving the current situation of pretty much the hotspots of the news, im woundering what you guys believe is the most important situation the US should focus on.
Im mainly woundering wether the US and/or the rest of the wourld should place its highest priority on events in Iran rather than Iraq and Sudan.

which is lead by liberals and those who lazily suck off of them on the one hand, and underregulated toxic enterprises by irresponsible industrialists on the other.

A lot harder to deal with than any of the others, but at the same time a greater threat to destabilization to the global system.
-
ChinaVoted for by Zim.
Iran while maybe powerful with some lobby in there neck of the world… is no major issue… North Korea has things to make one worry, but no balls to back it up… every time they get froggy… we suddenly start paying attention to them and china cuts off their oil flow and then they starve and no problem… China however, there is something to worry about… any country who’s political structure is built around the ideal that political power is achieved from the barrel of a smoking gun is something to worry about.

But China hasn't done much to disturb the international equilibrium. They aren't causing any real problems. They have the potential to, but I'm not sure what the US could/should really do now...

China is a problem. There's 1.3 billion people over there and they're all starting to clamor for the American standard of living.

the US needs to concentrate on looking good. Right now they need to look at the ways that people view them internationally and nationally. right now the US doesnt appeal to people who watch the news.

What's more important
What's more important looking good or being strong and not letting international oppinion compramise our rights and freedoms. If we had listened to international oppinion Sadam would still be in power and the Iraqi people would still be ruled by a tyranous dictatership. Money would be flowing freely from Sadams regime to terrorists (911 commission report) You need to stop listening to CNN and get educated. It's sad that liberal news agencies hate America so much that they would undermine the World view of our country, and the morall of our troops and citizens. -
-
i will clarify for you, what the americans need to do is to stop going around and demanding, ripping people off, and stealing things from other people. sadam may have been a horrible leader but do you think that everyone in Iraq thought that way? no. i will put it simply in the Iraq and terrorist regard. one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. why do you think they celibrated the day the twin towers fell?

Fine
We'll go ahead and pull out of Iraq and watch the other countries consume Iraq. I think Iraq would like to be under tyranny again. We'll just say fine, what ever, you all hate us so bad we'll just pull our troops out of every country and leave you all to yourselves. We know you hate capitalist so, fine we'll stop sending money to all those countries that cry for help. We'll just sit over here with our money and screw everybody else you know because capitalism sucks and America is so evil and all. We'll say screw the G8 and Africa because their financial system is so much better. Who cares if the people of Africa starve to death. Hell, we're not doing enough in the worlds eyes anyway. Screw it if every country has nukes, what ever. We'll butt out. Screw peace talks. We won't do anything about the Israelis and the palestinians, what ever. Kill each other for all we care. We'll just close our boarders and stop sending jobs to other countries. Screw their economy. We'll just go ahead and bow down to a corrupt UN, and try to appease the world. That sounds good. We'll sit over here and worry about our people and screw everybody else. And then the world will hate us because we don't do enough to help the world. All the other countries will say that America is selfish and when another country comes to us whining that the need our military to help out, whatever, not our problem. You all wanted us to butt out of world affairs so bad. We'll just let all the other countries blow each other up. That sounds like fun. One day you will all realize that America is not the root of the worlds problems. I hope it will be soon, because one day we will get tired of hearing about how evil we are and we'll get callus to the needs of the world and when that happens, America will be Evil for not helping. So, what is it what do you want from us? Why is it that you all hate us because we believe in civil rights and every American shouldn't starve to death. Why do you hate that we have a free market and a capitalist society where all of our citizens can be prosperous? What is it with you people. Do you hate the fact that we all have rights and the government is in our control. Do you hate the fact that we all think that other people coming into our country and blowing up our people is wrong? Let me just tell you this, when you go to the doctor, when you can get an appointment, because I know that you won't get seen for a couple of months there. And your taking the prescription drugs for what ever ales you, just remember that those drugs come from the US and you are getting them for a hell of a lot cheaper than I can. we practically give them to you all. So don't give me that crap that we are stealing from you. We give the world so much and all that we do is thrown back in our face. I hope that the next president focuses on Domestic policy and securing our boarders and finding a constitutional way to stop terrorism here in the US and stops giving money to every country that asks. I hope he beefs up our military to protect our boarders and that's it. And the next country that screams for help, screw them because the world hates it when we use our military. What ever dude. Oh but then we'll be assholes for minding our own business. -

ah,i see you have missed my point again. but first i will remind you of some of the history that we share in this world. 1) lets start with sitting back in a time of need. WW1 i believe that the US did not enter this war until their trade routes were being attacked. WW2 i know you didnt join this one until, again, you were threatened with pearl harbor. 2) I believe it was the Americans that gave the money and the guns to the Taliban now wasnt it? 3)Last time I checked, you didnt do swat for Rwanda in _their_ time of need. 4) I believe it wasnt too long ago that it wasnt just drugs that you were sending all over. wasnt there some kind of virus you sent a few months ago. but i wont hold that against you. 5) the next time you sit on a nice wooden chair, eat at a nice wooden table, sleep under a nice wooden house, eat some delicous maple surup, enjoy coming to canada for cheaper drugs (because our health care system is better at this level of servce) i want you to think of all the money that families in canada lose because of the high teriffs placed on our wood, beef, ect, that you come to respect what my country puts up with. now, let me rephrase what i have said before. what i mean by americans looking good is that they should, instead of giving money, use your army to go into these countries that need money and help them. and what i mean by help is teach them to grow food, raise cattle (or whatever), clean up some of their towns. instead of being this money giver, why dont you just help. give a man a fish and he has food for a day. teach a man to fish and he has food of a life time.
-
-
1) During WW2 the president didn't want to go to war because that's what the people wanted, and Pearl Harbor wasn't threatened it was blown up. 2) you are absolutely right and we gave all the munitions that Saddam had also. As you said before one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. At the time they were asking us for help and we gave it. 3) maybe Rwanda would be a little better off if the zimbabwe government hadn't confiscated land from farmers and given the land to government employees that had no intention of actually using it for farming. Zimbabwe was the largest producer of food for that continent. Maybe they wouldn't be so bad off if the African government's would use their resources instead of importing everything, and only giving those resources to people in their minds "deserve" it. 4)That would be the Merck Corporation and that for your information is a British company, not American. And yes it's based in England. 5) The table that I sit at was made right down the road in Damascus VA The chairs too, Oh and my dresser also. And if the Tariffs are so high, Than why did the Hershey company, formerly based in Hershey Pennsylvania, move their operation to Canada to save money?
-
-
because the tariffs are for soft wood _lumber_, which is logs. oh, and by the way, just because your table was made in the US, it doesnt mean that the tree that made it was grown there.
-
-
Hmm. That's funny I grew up in Oregon... That state is maintained solely on trees pine to be exact so yes there are American trees, and lots of them. Wouldn't it make sense to have tariffs on product and resources that we have right here in America to promote the use of those products. Makes sense right? as an example, why would Canada buy trees from America doesn't make any sense does it. Don't get me wrong I have a lot of issues with my own country but it erks me that other countries have hated America for decades. If you lived in America you would love it. Why do you think that people are coming into this country in droves. And they come from all over the world. Mostly from Canada and Mexico though. We have a lot of freedoms and privileges that you don't see in any other country. You can say what you want. You can do what you want unless it infringes someone else's rights. We have the strongest economy in the world and we have more wealth per capita than any other country. We have a truly unique system of government. What is the problem with that? Why do you hate us so much when our system actually works. Is that why you have a problem with the US? Because we figured it out? You have a liberal system that is totally PC and completely unfeasible. How much do you spend in taxes to maintain the drunk next door that refuses too work. In this country those people will be homeless. Don't get me wrong for those people that are truly unfortunate I sympathise, but for the people that don't want to do anything with themselves, maybe the street is the only place for them. Because I don't want to work hard every day and bust my ass for the things I have, just to give it to taxes to pay for the jack ass that sits in his house all day playing x-box and sucking up my tax dollars that could be going to someone that actually needs it. In this country everyone has a chance to make their lives better. I'm not just talking monetarily I mean to truly have a good life. In this country we can dictate what happens in our government. Americans forget that sometimes, but it's true. Like the fair tax idea. the plan that will make America a tax haven, and bolster our economy even further. If every American tells their congressman to vote for that plan they will have no choice but to vote for it, because their jobs will be in jeopardy. That's why this country is so cool. It's not perfect but it is the best system. Come down and check it out you might like it. Hell come down and visit me I'll take you to some cool places.
-
-
i guess your system is fine if you support money instead of people but hey? they're not important right? anyways, i thought i might point out a few things to you. since you live in oregon, you do have nice forests around you that can be chopped but how many other states other than oregon can do the same? oregon isnt a very big place. oh, and we have the same amount of control over our government as you do, even a little more since we have more parties. oh, and minority governments, which make it even easier to control by the general pop. and people move down to the states for the money. we lose so many canadian trained pros do to the fact that you will pay more. selfish really. oh, and i have no problem with the US people. i do not like the way that the president is in control of how much he is. think about it, with one small paper, he can override the senate and have perminite residance in your white house. i also would like to envite you north to show you our wonders. you just might like it. we have some amazing places too.

The president that would want to take over.
That would never happen because the people wouldn't let it. I guarentee you that if a president ever had the audacity to try to take over and disreguard the senate and congress he would be taken out of the oval office in shackles. That would be a gross violation of the law. not to mention the fact that the people in this country don't give up their rights that easily. Just look at the emanant domain decision. Senators and congressmen got flooded with phone calls and fax's and responded accordingly with a bill that will be voted on soon. Every representitive in the congress and the senate knows that with this decision their jobs are on the line. One thing I can say about the people here, they like their public outrage. Oh yeah I went Through B.C. traveling to Alaska and I thought it was great. You are right about one thing though the party system in this country sucks. The republicans only vote in the extreme right and the democrats only vote in the extreme left. The green party completely sucks and the libertarians the only decent party out there number one, voted the wrong guy for the job this time around and secondly, don't get enough credit. I think if you have the backing and want to be the president you should get as much podium time as the other two idiots that got nominated. -
-
but if the pres has control of the military and death is the answer to resistance, it would fly.
-
-
An old famous quote of mine.
"Are you fucking retarded?" The president doesn't have control of the military. Go back to civics class. -
-
i may be canadian but i do know a few things about the politics that surround my country. He (the president) is commander-in-chief of the army. which means, that he is in control of the army. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/President_of_the_United_States look it up for your self if you do not believe me. i guess i'm not only not retarded, and do not have to go back to civics class. which is an american class and i have never taken because of my nationality. here we take social studies. learn some facts first before going on a rampage
-
-
Commander and chief.
Although he commands the military, he does not have control of the military. The control element of the military, comes to him via the senate the congress, and the Joint chiefs. He does not stand infront of the troops commanding their every move. There is a list of people that he would have to "control" over three hundred strong, before an order even were to get to a "troop" and seriously doubt that that would ever happen. The constitution was written to prevent that from happening. OK I was wrong. You do not have a civics class, so you need to go back to social studies, and learn how our government works. -
-
now why would we want to do that? ours is way to complicated to be having the time to learn about the specifics of others. :)

Lmao
Ha ha!!! Now that's funny. It's hard to figure out our government too. I think it's hard to figure out any government. I'm one of the oddities in my country because I actually care and I have actually learned about the American government. It takes a long time, and a lot of attention, but I wish that people would stop listening to the media in the US and get interested in what is ACTUALLY happening. The discourse that the media is creating. The fact is that yes GW has faults and yes the US has faults, but it is not as dire as the media reports it is. The media is simply on a Bush Bashing campaign, and they will say anything to make him look bad, whether it's the truth or not. I think it is sad that I have to watch the news and then get on the internet and find out what ACTUALLY happend. -

i thought i should tell you about our commander in Chief. he/she is the Governer-General, in a round about way. techicly, the queen is our commander-in-chief. but according to some act, in the absince of the queen, her represintitive is the commander. this being the governer general. but the governer general cannot act unless the Prime Minister askes them too. but the Prime Minister cannot ask until House of Commons decides to support it. and just to make it even more interesting, the GG can deny the PM the right to deploy our troops. i think that covers all of the GG PM Queen circles.

Yeah, I think kazrith has a point. yes, we've certainly helped in some places, and acheived some good, but..... I don't think the U.S. has its heart in the right place. Do you think that we would have gone into everywhere else if there wasn't some benefit for us? Look at the start of it all, the Monroe Doctrine. We didn't fear Britain imposing their system of rule on some helpless little country, we feared having a British outpost nestled in our flanks. I also think webdemon666 went a little overboard. people don't hate us because we help, they hate us because 1) we're 4 % of the world's population using, like, 80% of the world's resources. do you realize how much of global warming is (rightly) attributed to us? 2) people hate us because we defend our own interests first and foremost. i've already discussed that, but here's another example. Bush went into Iraq alone. No one else in the UN was immediately like "Let's go kick some taliban ass!" The U.S., aside from being outraged over 9/11, was/is worried about oil. (which is ironic considering how much of alaska's oil goes out of the country....) AND, while i'm on that subject, OPEN ANWR!!!! i don't know if there's shitloads of oil up there or not, but even if there's not, it's not gonna hurt anything to go and take a looksee. ANYHOW. i'm just pointing out that the US isn't this "Big Brother" to everyone else out there for their sakes, and so there's no need to get all riled up, 'cuz really we do need to cover our asses a little.
-
Jst to dispell a few things...
We did not go to war over Oil. If we did, where in the hell is it? The reason the UN didn't want to go to war with Iraq is because the higher officials were in bed with sadam, embeseling money from the oil for food campaign and that has been proven, there have been indictments. If we do use 80 percent of the worlds resources, than we are using our own, by the way all of the scrap metal that gets shipped around the world is coming from the US... That makes no sense to me. that is one thing I think the environmental lobby should be pissed at. As far as ANWAR, I agree with you 100% ANWAR was actually set aside for drilling oil, so why in the hell are we even debating it? One more thing... We are 300 million people in a world of six billion, if the global warming thing is such a crisis then we are not totally to blame. As far as Kyoto is concerned it would destroy our economy. That is why Bush won't sign it. He actually wants the US to do the research to get away from relying on oil.

The rise of american socialistsVoted for by webdemon666.
The left wing is making a move toward socialism. Rosie O'donnel worshipers that buy in to the Idea that the wealth in this country should be evenly destibuted and that individualism is is wrong. People that don't understand that the system we have rewards people for doing well, working hard, and being an asset to the american economy. Hitler, stallin and Lennon all believed that the good of country was more important than individualism and freedom. Here we believe That individualism and freedom empowers a nation. But socialism and lack of knowlege (ignorence) is on the rise and running rampent in our schools and media.
