Money is a necessity, not a goal. Life is not a competition but a pleasure. Just because its reality, doesn't mean its how things should be.

My morals
To start:
-What is the point of good college? Good education? Good SAT/ACT score?
-A common man will say, "To become sucessful, have a good life."
-A good responce would be, "Define sucessful"
"Define 'a good life'"
Thing is, what and where does sucess get you? Money? Power? So what? Money shouldn't be life, shouldnt determine your life, shouldn't effect any human's life. But it does. Power comes from it, but who really needs power? Should it really all be a big world wide competition just to live? And have a good life (thinking outside of what is considered a good life today) but really all it is is people forgetting what life is really about.
Alright, so we got money, and power as to where and what sucess gets you. But maybe people are ignoring the fact of stress? Tell me some major causes of suicide and depression. It is all a fight and those who are not among the average will feel stressful to catch up with the rest of society, and maybe they are in need of sucess or good education in order to have a life, and some dont suceed and are ridiculed and looked down on upon society. Dont you think that may be a cause of many suicide acts?
Lets sum it up so far:
A good life to the common man is money, power, high ranking in society, but that is only the branwash speaking, breanwash from what society has grown and established. But aside from what is reality, although has become the wrong type of reality, people forget what life is really about. It is not about competition and stress, the side of effects of "sucess." Many will say "Competition is all around you, and so is society and reality, and you can't escape it. you must keep up, you are a loser if you do not have a good work ethic." --hold up a sec, since when does a work ethic determine someones character??? There are many things that determine a person, and work and education SHOULD NOT be one.---
Honestly, there are ways of escape, those are psychological and moral escape, escape into your own reality. But society limits that to a certain degree.
"Society may attach to you like a shadow, but the shadow dissappears once the sun sets. Those street lamps and other lights are just people, but you can dodge those."--My quote.
My conclusion right now, for what life is really about, is this -you only have one life, and it's about love (companionship), enjoyment, doing what suits you most (looking outside of competition in the real world, after escape from reality into your own and ignoring what society trys to make of you) and treasuring every one of lifes moments.
-I might add to this, but feel free to put your opinion on this one-

What?
Have you not needed to work yet or something?
You need money to live. You need a little more money to have some luxuries in your spare time. Statistically, higher education will open more oppurtunities of higher pay (often for equal or less actual work involved compared to lower paying jobs). Why not give yourself that edge?
"hold up a sec, since when does a work ethic determine someones character??? "
Since always, I think.
"My conclusion right now, for what life is really about, is this -you only have one life, and it's about love (companionship), enjoyment, doing what suits you most (looking outside of competition in the real world, after escape from reality into your own and ignoring what society trys to make of you) and treasuring every one of lifes moments. "
True enough. But you'll have trouble enjoying life without a little money.
I'm a bit of a slacker in life. I do my best to the least amount of work with maximum results. I really wouldn't say I'm much of a materialist. I have my computer, TV, DVDs, cable, books, body spray, hair gel, etc. I really like to go out or have people over (while supplying them what they may need that night). To do this I need a little extra money.
I can probably count on my fingers the amount of people I know that are obsessed with job competition. These types of people are weasels and typically friendless. Some are just genuinely trying to get to a higher status so they and/or their loved ones don't have to struggle so hard in life anymore. Most everyone is simply trying to get by, with a little extra, and in no way against getting a better paying situation.
Still, if you've found a way to enjoy all the treasures of life without money or work, I would be very happy to find out what it is.

REALITY IS NEVER WRONG.
“What the world is today shouldn't be accepted as reality”.<-I DISAGREE
MY VIEW:
A result is a reality and it happens if a certain course of action is taken. Every course of action yields a result, which is the reality that should be, accepted under those conditions. So, what the world is today should be accepted as the reality, which is a result due to the current prevailing conditions.
“Just because its reality doesn't mean its how things should be.” <-I DISAGREE
MY VIEW:
Reality is what has happened and what is happening. What has happened and what is happening is a result due to a set of prevailing conditions. So, reality is a result due to a set of prevailing conditions.
As long as those same conditions prevail, the result will be the same.
Result is a logical conclusion, which means that, that is what one would get if that particular action is taken, or if those set of conditions prevail. Results are never wrong; it means that is what it should be. Naturally speaking, a result is always a logical conclusion. Therefore, reality is a logical conclusion and is never wrong. It means that's how things should be.
“Money is a necessity, not a goal.”<-I DISAGREE
MY VIEW:
Yes, money is a necessity but it is also a goal. The reason why corporations compete against each other is money. They compete for the market share. Getting a bigger market share means more customers and ultimately more money, which is the goal. Therefore, money is both a necessity and a goal.
“Life is not a competition but a pleasure.”<-I AGREE
MY VIEW:
Long life can be achieved by eating right and staying fit. Life is pleasurable when one is enjoying it. More money makes life easier and therefore pleasurable. The amount of money needed to live a pleasurable life varies from person to person. People do not compete for money. They just get enough money to enable them to live a life that is pleasurable to them. Therefore, yes, life is not a competition but a pleasure.

actually...
There is no set in stone reality. Reality is created by the people that make up the society and by the reality perspective within each persons mind. So yes, the world today is reality and should be accepted as such.
Even if you were to live on your own away from society you still create your own reality, so what makes one reality more real than another?
Sure we can argue one reality is better than the other but thats all opinion.

Reality as Relativity
The considered opinions as above is very fascinating. I would like to address the issue of Reality in the topic being discussed above. What is reality?.... It is a concept... concepts are formed in the mind. What appears to be of real significanze to someone may not be of any use to the other. e.g A poetry is good reading to many romanticists or to the literati. But it may not be worth a single reading for a plumber or pilot.
Lets talk or butt in something on this word we often use as 'world' ( as it is used by the topic initiator)..... what's a world.... in its abstract sense each one of us has our own world perhaps very dear to us. However, this kind of a 'my world', 'my village', 'my country' assertions are merely an attribute of the totality of our experiences within the confines of our 'life', let me add 'dear life'.
So we see that Reality and World are exclusive terms of our own experiences and that which we experience right now. My friend's world or my neighbour's world as a reality exists as island of life, communicating and connecting with each other only when we meet or talk over phone etc. These islands of life are mutually exclusive. This exclusivity of each life is the underlying fact. We often get into arguments and counter arguments (can be any subject matter) without reminding ourselves of these underlying facts. The fact of each individual having their own experiences, perception, and perspectives and such qualities.
Reality or if i may say, the Ultimate Truth or Reality that we often seek deludes us completely. Because of our limited sensory capabilities and intellectual abilities, we cannot know what REALITY is (all about).
Just to add on the previous members comment -
"Reality is what is happening and what has happened."
I disagree with the latter part of the statement. What has happened cannot be Reality..... the moment i wrote this, it no longer is reality.... If you read this message say after some time has elapsed it is because of storage, memory, archive, history..... it is past... Reality exists now and goes the next moment. Time therefore is what comes closest to reality. By the time we humans see and contemplate, Reality has left us and gone into posterity. Reality for us exists in the past. We often and invariabily discuss our past real experiences out of our memory. That is like playing a playback tape. Like Alice in the Wonderland can we catch up with Reality or Time. Too difficult, says Einstein.

PICTURE OF THE WORLD TODAY IS THE REALITY OBTAINING.
Reality is what is happening and what has happened. The competition that we see today is dictated by law of supply and demand. The world today is a battlefield for the minds. The end user is the object of manipulation, deception, and indoctrination. This scenario benefits more the corporation /institutions than the end user does. Therefore, it is pretty much a competition among corporation/ institutions. The one who wins more minds is the one who will have control on the world market. Strictly speaking, the end users compete neither for products nor for jobs. It is the corporations, which are competing for end users. They also compete for employees of high caliber by rewarding high salaries to certain job categories. The market tends to reward more for degrees that are in demand prompting a high enrollment in those degrees. End user today always makes an informed decision before enrolling in any degree. There is readily available information in all institutions of higher learning to assist students in making an informed decision about their future career. Therefore, the low demand in any job category prompts a low enrollment in degrees of that job category. Clearly, this mechanism does not promote competition among end users.
Therefore, in life today there is competition among corporations and no competition among end users.

HCBSA your mostly right but somethings you said are brainwashing arn't really brainwashing some people find that the think that make life worth live the competion the race. but your right most people do think that is the only way because they're sucker into a partial image of reality.what I want to do is probably outside the boundries of what you and most people consider realistic.
you're right people let other people define what they need to enjoy life or be successful but also realize that somepeople choose the path of so called success by their own choosing and really enjoy it,
ALSO AND MOST IMPORTANTLY SOME PEOPLE HAVE TO ABANDON THEIR DREAMS AND FALLLOW THE PRE-PAVED PATH OF MEDIOCRITY AND SO CALLED "SUCCESS" BECAUSE LIFE ISN'T FAIR AND SOMETIMES FOR YOUR CHILDREN OR LOVED ONES, TO MAKE SURE THEY HAVE CHANCE AND ARE SAFE YOU SACRIFICE YOUR DREAMS TO PROVIDE FOR THEM.
