The bible, a story about Jesus.

Very simple...14% Voted for by Yossarian, vaia.
No. The bible was written by man. Man controls what remains within the text. Man edits the texts. Man is by nature imperfect. I would be far more inclined to believe the bible if it had ben handed down without editing. But as anyone who knows about linguistics knows, once translated from one language to another, you lose things...and then again, you lose more. There are so many different versions of the bible, in so many different languages...reading the same pages of different ones will give you an almost completely different meaning. If the texts were perfect, and god-given, this would not be the case. If the texts were perfect and god-given, we would not have the hundreds of seperate factions of Christianity that we have today.
I will not say that it should be completely discarded though. On the contrary, I think that it should be read like any other book of philosophy, or world religion, so that we may take our own truths from them. I just don't believe in anyway that the bible should be taken as 100% fact.

The Bible is complete the way God wants it complete...The Catholic Vatican can't stop the truth.14% Voted for by Everyones Dead, Exo.
God did through human hands the work of putting the infallible Bible together. Try as Catholics can, they can’t stop God. I think that the Bible is as complete as God wants it to be, and it’s perfectly fine that way. Maybe God wanted some manuscripts burned, but they weren’t part of the Bible when they were burned, they were just manuscripts. The Bible we have now is the Bible we have always had, as God wants it to be.
That’s just my opinion. I’m not here to argue, just to offer my beliefs!

Very sorry, E-dead14% Voted for by frndofyaweh, Everyones Dead.
You and i agree for the most part and I should not have included you in the “Everyone above is incorrect” thread. I apologize. I should say that, no matter what the vatican may have done; I know from personal experiences, that The Bible is complete enough. Ask and it SHALL be given(any need). God always answers those who know He will. Ask Him for a Harley Davidson and He will answer that also, but it may be a, NO. Heheee.

sounds like Andy S. hasn't read itVoted for by frndofyaweh.
The Bible, I mean. The word Bible in Greek means: The True Word. Jesus said in the book of John; I Am The Word and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among you. Islam is NOT in the Bible. Catholicism is described as a wayward church and Judaism IS the Yoke of Christianity.

There's a simple answer..Voted for by justonewish.
The Bible tells four different stories of the life of Jesus, two different stories of part of the life of Joseph, two different stories of the tale of Adam and Eve. The Bible contradicts itself, so it is obviously not an accurate retelling of what happened (perhaps some parts are accurate, but not all are).

Left Out GodVoted for by Andy Stephenson.
It is a book written for many reasons including to tell about misguided beliefs about God. God is not in it. God never has been in it and God is not trapped in there now. It tells about the evolution of Judism, Islam, Catholicism, and Christianity. That pretty much proves evolution. The Bible contains a lot of myths, but it contains little about God. God just really isn’t there.

4 same stories 100% but differingVoted for by frndofyaweh.
perspectives. God purposely chose those for persons for a reason: To show how accurate, four different views, could actually be. Matthew was a businessman/merchant/tax collector. Mark was a Historian and writer/reporter. Luke was a scientist/Doctor. John was a fisherman/blue collar average joe. Yet, all four accounts validate each other absolutely! They all four saw the exact same things in a different way and the message is still the same in each account.

No one above is correctVoted for by frndofyaweh.
Jesus is identifiable in every book of the Bible, Old and New Testaments alike. There are NO contridictions within the Bible(greek: the true Word). The vatican is keeping NOTHING under wraps, that has any relevance to Gods Word. The dead sea scrolls prove beyond a doubt that the Bible is still accurate after 2000 years of rewriting! Not even ONE single word is misplaced or changed after so many diff. translations: That alone is a miracle, because no other historical writing can boast such an accurate claim.

The Bible answers every question under the sun. Go ahead ask me what I have found within it. I dare ya?

I don’t think its complete because IN IT it clearly states that it isn’t complete, but in God’s eyes you have enough info to keep going in life. However, things are NOT to be added nor dropped—but it is an incomplete work. I’m not sure where I heard that—don’t ask—but I did.

The Bible is an incomplete book. There are not only pages that the Vatican are keeping under wraps, we don’t know how many pages were actually lost forever. Many pages were burned, and will never bee seen.

I agree
The bible is written by man. It was written by man (not quite sure who), and passed on to others. And during this time, others would be editing it and changing it. So what you read, may not be the real thing. Some parts could be true, and others false just because of how man reads and edits it. He may have added his opinion or changed it as he wants it to be. On the other hand, it is about belief. If you believe in it, then it's fact. Please register or login to comment! It's totally free
