Do they signify something in life? Does it represent something that is happening to you? Now? In the furture? The past? Do reoccurring themes in dreams mean something also?

Theory16% Voted for by Sealight, ohsweetie2788.
I once made up this story to entertain myself. It had to do with the theory that everyone had two lives and dreams were just a shadow of what you did in one of your lives. Then it went into the story about someone people that could remember what happened in there other lives and be absolutely consous about their other life. This was just to entertain, though.

They can mean just about anything16% Voted for by Ace Firice, emu girl.
In my opinion, dreams are a way of living (so to speak) or reliving things that have happened or might happen or might be happening at that moment… even though i think it means something, ive had one experience where i dreamt of a woman getting stabbed, and the next day, it was all over the news that someone had killed thier wife and the killer had yet to be cauhgt…so I dunno… I agree with the previous statement that dreams can be something you have done or seen in a previous life but they can be so much more… for example, nightmares are a way of seeing and flushing out your fears, and some dreams are just from your imagination, but they might have a hint of truth in them… some people even believe that dreams can even be telepathic messages or signs… I certainly believe that…so dreams can mean just about anything…

I believe dreams are our subconcious mind taking our brain out for a spin while our concious mind rests. They show us what we really feel when all the walls are down. Premonitions, I believe, are our unconcious mind making sense of events that took place when we were concious but we just never "connected the dots". So our unconcious mind extrapolates the logical conclusion to the series of events and is sometimes right. Having the same dream over and over again or having reocurring themes in your dreams (i think) justs shows you what you're really concerned about; what matters to you or what you believe or want.

Dreams are door ways to what you can become.. But they remain dreams unless you wake up and do something about them!

The brain, processing...Voted for by sinful-cinnamon.
Scientifically, dreams occur when the brain is making synaptic connections and processing the events of the day. I think that recurring dreams, however, are different. If you have a recurring dream, it's probably for a reason - either a traumatic event from the past or a fear or phobia that you can't seem to get over. That's just my opinion though... But personally, I know that my dreams are heavily influenced by what happened the day before.

How is That Possible?Voted for by Fallen Light.
If the brain relies on past experiences for a movie while you are sleeping then in my dreams how could I have: -flown and actually felt like I was flying, but didn't fall off of bed. -have different points of view, like once I was in the Grinch's view, then Cindy's, then mine... -I have gotten kidnapped in my dream but never have in real life. -Once I dreamt that there was a tiolet paper brand under my real name that was magenta pink with blue strips. How is that possible?

well um forgive me friends, while I practice my html:

Yes, that falling dream is very common. It comes from an insecure awareness. Our conscience supresses it during awakeness, so we do not realize sometimes, how or what the in-security may be. ----- When asleep, Our sub-conscience brings it up, as a dream. Sense we are in bed and feel it possible to roll off edge and out of control; we also tend to dream we roll over and fall off, but have no firm ground to stop the fall. ----- You say they stopped, once you began to reach a more independent and confident age. What ever worried or scared you, no longer does.
-----
I used to dream; I fell off my bed, but then all I see, is the ocean, 2000 feet below and I keep falling. Only to wake up just before I go, *smack* on the water.
I had a fear of water, until I was 12. Believe it or not; I almost drowned at 12 yrs. old and was saved by a man, who just could never be found and thanked, later. Almost drowning, actually took the fear away from me that day. _____
All my dreams changed, from then on. Haven’t had a scarey or disturbing dream, in 40 years now.
----- EDIT: Wonder why, the symbols I type, change my fonts in a sub-comment, but do not work out here, in the main subject comments?

dreams come trueVoted for by windwhisper.
i have had many dreams in my lifetime that have come true. descriptions down to the last drop. the catch, i would dream them, and then within time they would happen. such as a dream of being chased be a 'devil'. in my dream the scenery was set, the store plaza, everything was in place. i was being chased. one year, i moved to this location that hit me one day that this is what i saw. however, the devil who appeared in my dream was my drunkin bf who chased me through the streets of the neighborhood, the anger he held revealed the same dream and same actions i dreamt a few times. even befor i ever met him. another time i dreamt of being in a place, a diningroom, looking out the window. a year later i moved into an apartment and realized one day that it was the same exact thing i saw down to the window, the colors of the walls, etc. i have been one that her dreams have spoken to her in many ways. i believe that they are messages sent to us from who knows where. it is up to us to analyze our dreams. my bf once told me he had several dreams i was cheating on him.although i wasnt physically, emotionally and mentally and through discussion with other men, actually i was because my heart wasnt there. i was honest. i told him it was a given message. truly, i do believe in dreams, and i think it is up to that person to really sit and analyze them. find out what the message is. i even log my dreams down if they are very vivid.
