Is Robin Hood good or bad?

Robin Hood; stole from the rich to feed the poor. Would you say he did the right or wrong thing?

only half the story

robin hood was also trying to protect the thrown while the king/prince was crusaiding. he stole from someone who was taking too much from the poor.

only in knowing the whole story can we judge is actions as "good" or "bad."

What if Robin Hood fed a poor Hitler

Feeding people is giving them power. After you feed poor people, what do poor people want to do? They want to have sex and bring more poor people into the world. That is exactly the problem is South Africa. People with guilty bleeding hearts feed them and they multiply.

In general this is the plague with the world today. All these do-gooders and religious people want to open churches in poor countries and feed the poor. They make the problem worse.

Do what works: create an economy. Only an economy feeds people and keeps them alive and well.

Creating silence and order under chaos works wonders. Hitler would have created a very good world system, for a couple of years. People crave freedom, they crave love. Pity we aren't all robots. Bioengineering could fix this little problem, but once our humanity is gone, screw living anyway.

brew, you havent thought much on this topic besides for the surface features
just like in mideval europe, families need to be big because with a big family, you have a better chance of bringing in the money that is needed to feed the family.

a family of three cannot support themselves. a family of 8 can. and a family of 8 can afford to loose a few to sickness more so than a family of three.

what WILL work is simple: fair trade. pay the people who make the clothes, grow the coffee ect ect the same they would get here. this way people would be able to afford food with a small family or afford a doctor.

another thing that will work: a government that cares for their people, a government that fears its people. with a government that HAS to care, you will be able to create a civilization that is nearly self-sustaining.

The concept of fair-trade as we know it does not work- an article in the economist magazine recently gave evidence why. In a nutshell, fair-trade inflates prices for goods whose supply does not match demand. Economically we are paying the farmers too much for a product which is not scarce. As fair trade only deals with such products as chocolate and cofee compared to all goods, its prospects for seriously making an impact on poverty are low.

To give Fair-trade targeted countries a chance would require serious economic liberalisation with tariffs falling to free up trade between. However economic prosperity cannot occur until (in many of the countries) a regime change takes place.
