Pleating Light

Unless life's face is a surreal frame of mind, the general stand point of time is that it is a continuous motion of aging and passing of moments. But even that which does not age is placed into the clocks hands and corresponds among its contents. Beneath the whole is are individual parts, in that the demands and functioning of the parts and whole in the separate environments differ. For that which we are, we experience and attach ourselves to the passing moments that create reality. We submit all we have to this empirical outlook on life. Than one understands what there really is in what there may be at hand through scientific knowledge or connecting various other accepted truths. To Know this much begins to develop the mind; see right into the waves of light flowing by and suddenly evolve a new perceiving eye. To thereby adapt the eye to interpret more of what something really is and transcend above sheer illusions to depict the realities of time. Such a simple evolution would do wonders to how humans comprehend life.

  I do not submit all to an empirical outlook on life. The empirical is an illusion. The world is more than, I believe, the sum of its observed parts.
  
  This is not how I would depict the evolution of my consciousness. My consciousness sought a downward degradation of self as it slowly unraveled its inabilities and flaws, leaving nothing but a stained smear of supposed observation, and disconnected evaluation. Your path leads to destruction, and chaos.

    I apologize to make such a broad statement that we all live in an empirical view of the world because this is a false statement to make. I do believe everyone in some way or another appreciates the ghosts inside the machines. A careless mistake.
    You however bring make a strong point about what self evolution really becomes when it is sought for. It becomes a disappointment when the ends remain loose and the direction is lost. Perhaps this is a product of expectation. But there is hope... and that very hope is still internal to us. So there is something in which unlocks a door to growth and awareness. How I've come to believe that this key is found within, the box still exists externally. And because of that, it is when our internal self grows that our external person shall follow.

  All you need to do is CATCH UP. Unfortunately-- tragically, actually-- people are so far behind. So far behind. It's a miracle that 'civilization' still exists. A true miracle.

  I agree that the internal consciousness will reflect our external. In this thought of "pleating light" I was only observing the effects of the external evolution with little description of the internal awareness at play.

  Tell me about it. Just a couple thousand years ago humans thought the world was flat, now they think it's round. Who knows what we'll think in the future? lol!

  I think time is an outdated concept as well. We need to stop viewing it as a part of existance and think of it as a concept we made up to schedule ourselves by. Is it possible that you simply exist but can't comprehend it all at once and the result of having such a primitive way of thinking being ends up a fragmented and frustrating ignigma?
  
  As for the guy below me. I know where you're coming from when you say that you're an atheist, but when it comes down to it, how else can you explain this? YOU ARE TEMPORARILY EXPERIENCING LIFE! How fuckin' wierd is that shit? To tell you the truth if there is no god then this is impossible. How could everything come from nothing you know? How is eturnity possible without a consiousness? Everything is a chain of events and "god" is simply the reson why the very first event took place.
  
  You guys should read into Nicola Tesla. That guy had answers. As well as really fuckin intense invensions like free energy and death rays!

Unlocking the Brain

Okay, so I'm not sure if I believe in any um.. real higher power these days, after learning a llllot about Evolution, or rather the products OF the evolution.

And one thing I've come to believe is that our consciousness and all the prestiegous emotions we can feel are all a product of the biology of our brains. Our brains, not to sound egocentric, are highly advanced compared to animals, even by the slightest bit pushes us over. We evolved past them. Our consciousness is a more intelligent awareness of ourselves. It allows us to moderate our ownselves privately and personally. Something of a personal saftey device, this consciousness. And hopefully, if we don't friggen kill ourselves, if we continue to evolve cognitively then maybe we'll somehow reach that higher Knowing. I mean only using 10% of our brains? I've just been Sitting here WAITing for someone to at least double that. It's such a small number. So hopefully evolution will allow future generations to unlock parts of their brain, thus providing access to unknown resources we've always posessed.

Personally, if our brains do advance and unlock some mysterious knowledge, I hope it concerns the flow of energy through all living things on earth; plants, rain, people, clouds.. it all takes energy, and if you cannot ever create or destroy energy, then all the energy that is here now has ALWAYS been here, thus recycling itself somehow... if humans can tap into that usable energy or something... make it Inergy. That'd be cool.

Hi Day dreamer

That'd be cool, in a hot environment of the future. I wonder why humans are so concerned by their own 'progress' or development. And that, we hear specialists say, would be at the cost of our environment or the Earth .... I honestly wonder whether the 'consciousness' that we pride about, is going to take us 'down', or may be 'up'
....depending on one's own outlook...lol

  BTW, that whole 10% of our brains thing is BS started sometime near 1900 by people selling mental enhancments. Neurologist believe that we use 100% of our brains.

To reply to a man of strong words
I agree completely with your statement. I'm glad to see someone else appreciate what science has revealed to us about the ever flowing stream of energy which its proponents are similar where ever it immerses itself. My piece was to be more poetical making the reader contemplate about it, as I referred the ability to "see" light flowing by as the state of mind where we become consciously aware of this energy through a foreign sense. I do believe this is possible, but to assure such as real is to prove the brains capability to observing such a facet; evidence of divine presence. Ive spent many hours meditating my mind into a calm state where I've actually begun to vision a radiation of light omitting off of life forms such as humans or plants. This may sound very illusionary but the funny thing is that when I "come back" to terms with my self, the vision disappears and does not spontaneously re-appear without my control (me bringing myself back to such a calm state)... This may sound way out of wack and I assure you I have spent many hours researching biological processes that may cause such a event to occur in my reality but i cant come to any explanation of it. Maybe I'm just crazy, or may its the world that was wrong. I like to think that reality is how we have it, and if I can manage to produce such an internal sight then maybe this is only accessible to mine thine eyes.

Awareness is Memory
Time and space--and therefore change, happening or energy-- are real. As a consequence, consciousness of happening is real. Memory is real because it is a recognition of time. Thought itself is energy in the sense that it is spatio-temporal. It is temporal, because we could not think at all if thought had no duration. It is spatial because it is produced by the brain, which occupies space. Thought is generated by the oxidation of food and, like all energy, obeys the First Law of Thermodynamics in both its spatial and temporal terms. We are a kind of machine whose output is both motion and thought. In fact, thought is a kind of action, as is all energy. The self, on the other hand, is a sort of illusion. Likewise, consciousness of the self is illusory.

The question naturally arises: how do we become conscious of happening and how do we form consciousness of self? Clearly these things are formed by sensory impressions. Obviously, if we had no sensory experience, we would have nothing to think about and therefore would be conscious of nothing, not even ourselves. We possess not only the five "traditional" senses but can also sense the application of force, in the form of gravitation, acceleration, deceleration, rotation and curvilinear motion. We can also feel the application of kinetic energy and with it, pain. We sense heat or the insufficiency thereof, the latter being what we call "cold." We feel a kind of discomfort, even pain, if there is too much heat or not enough. We, of course, feel hunger when we have insufficient food.

As infants, we do not possess the full power of locomotion and are usually carried from place to place by our mothers. Thus, we experience sensations in various locations. Naturally, we interact with our parents and others, even at this early stage. When we learn to walk, we expand our experience of the world. This means not only that we perceive more, but also that we interact more. Indeed, the sensations mentioned above are what allow this interaction. "Interact" means both "acting on" and "being acting acted upon." The realization of the focus of these interactions is the Self. The ability to come to this realization depends upon memory. If we had no memory, we could learn nothing--indeed, we could not think at all. What then is the "stuff" of which the self is composed? It is nothing more than the accumulated memory of all our interactions with the world. Since this is constantly changing, the self is a flux. That is, it does not exist as anything in particular. To put it another way, it is not Being but a process of Becoming.

Our thought processes presume that the world consists of separate objects, including our own bodies, and that these objects move relative to each other and to the earth (which itself is a separate object). Motion, of course, presumes time. Clearly, without time, nothing would happen. Through our senses, principally sight, we learn to estimate our distance from other objects. Since the reality of time allows objects to become closer or further from our bodies, we also learn to estimate the temporal progress of these objects. Obviously, these skills are necessary for survival and are possessed by all motile creatures, not only humans. The differences is, our consciousness of our bodies as separate objects gives us the power of the will. This is something quite astounding, because it allows our consciousness to be the actual cause of things--to create happening independently of any repetitive pattern of cause and effect. Like lower animals, we can also act without the intervention of will--as when we act reflexively to the touch of a very hot object. In such case we are subject to repetitive cause and effect, for the response follows the stimulus, "as surely as night follows day." On the other hand, the will, in a very real sense, has the power of creation.

Since we are a kind of "pack animal," we also possess what may be called a social sense. This is a sense of Us and a consequent sense of Them. The Us are humans belonging to what we conceive of as our own group. All others are Them. The Us are those deserving of kindness, empathy, love, assistance, sacrifice and love. The Them are threats, objects of suspicion deserving only hatred, cruelty and destruction. In the social sense, only the Us have value. The Them, even though they are human, are worth nothing. This condition is an unfortunate incident of our primate nature but may be overcome by the remarkable power of the will--although the history of our species gives little evidence of it.

First let me apologise for not reacting or responding to your erudite commentary on consciousness and memory. Truly a well thought out understanding.

I would like to share some of my thoughts on this very interesting subject. My focus is on consciousness. For me consciousness is the most wonderful thing that exists. What is consciousness?.... It is referred to as an epiphenomenon. In simple terms it is a 'quality or state of awareness - ( Brittanica suggests). Lets examine this state a bit more by way of discussing against the very useful comments as a reference (their quotes) given by the following persons. I choose them because i feel this may further our investigation into the matter or matters raised in this post.

My comments: 'For that which we are'..... Nicely put and truly philosophical. What are we?. We the humans. Cutting short a lot of taxonomic details, we, for the sake of broadening our frame of focus, and whereby my reasoning lies, are unequivocally...living beings, just like there are other species of living things or beings on Earth. The moment we say living beings are conscious, it means that each and every cell of ours are conscious or aware. Aware of what? Awareness of the self and Awareness of its surrounding. Awareness of surrounding comes to us - the living beings - through the channels of our sensory instruments and its independent processes converging to the medium where assessment of the supplied information is brought forward and is done, so to speak. Lets call it the mind. The mind happens to be located in our brain. Many of us know by experience and readings that mind has intellect, ego, the id (Freud) and other facets or shall we say compartments that makes up the mind.
A conscious mind is therfore aware of many things his surounding environment gives him, and takes from him. Oops or her.

Therfore your observation that "we experience and attach ourselves to the passing moments that create reality."......... is true, for the reason that we are aware of the passing moments (moments are relative). Here i would like to point out that although mind is supposed to function out of the brain, consciousness is not depended on the brain. There are subtle differences.

More importantly, we should know ....what is it that which experiences or that which attaches?..... is it this 'Self'

My Comments: That which experiences has to be something that has memory. Without memmory - a kind of a recording device - no information can be stored. Information or data is received by our mind through the fives senses, it is formatted in to word form, and image form...(e.g a ms word and jpg image file). these informations becomes thoughts. thoughts are bio-chemical products just like on the telephone wire or a fibre cable. the wire line is coloured or given a quality by transforming a formatted word or image file into the line network and sent across to a recepient where action or no action is expected. This collection of information takes place in conscious, subconscious and unconscious state of our mind. Here one may ask, how information is received in an unconscious state of mind. Frankly i dont know. But, on the assureness of my own experince i know the mind or consciousness is struggling to make the body and mind to come back to a conscious state. Forget how it functions, for the current discussion it may be useful to know that 'there is something which is struggling'. is that something that we experience in the unconscious state - the self...... Let us hear from Neri on this.

My comments: Consciousness cannot degrade or upgrade the self or anything for that matter. Consciousness is the active and pasive state of mind which makes 'us' aware of 'our'selves'..... us and our is a speech term to refer to 'Self'...that is the "Me" in me. the 'I' and the 'My' in myself.
C'ness is difficult to be compared with anything else. C'ness is not awareness per se. C/ness is what makes awareness possible. It is the phenomenon - a mental phenomenon so to say, that makes or creates self awareness. It is the medium

My comments: IMHO, hope is what is really illusory. Any thought which projects a future scenario by the process of cognition, logic and memory based on experiences is the real illusion. When this hopeful thought is made up and in the course of the expected time and space, the projected hope (thought) does not fructify, it creates worry, sadness, despair and remorse.
Growth and Awareness are natural processes not depending on a thought termed 'hope.'

My comments: Mental experiences cannot be explained, simply because there is lack of words which can define or mean the experience. In such cases the poets, philosophers and pundits use similes, metaphors and personifies the experiences in to real understandable terms. That does not mean that such experiencs does not occur. The bio-chemical experiences that take place in our mind is the least researched and experienced by modern sciences and its proponents. Human mind is supposedly the most complex because of its long evolutionary journey propelled by its cell biology and survival skills. To comprehend the mind and its working will take an awful lot of research. A starting point can be the eastern thoughts on metaphysics and spiritual aspects of our mind. The words and language has long existed here and may turn out to be useful to take forays into this very interesting subject.
