Okay, a person with multiple personalities holds a gun to his head. Can it be considered a hostage situation? Or, a person with multiple personalites commits suicide. Can it be considered a hommicide?

As I see it...
We all have separate moods and subpersonalities within us, someone with multiple personality disorder simply doesn't have the harmony between these personalities. there is more noticable contrast between these mindsets. What we see is more raw, and uncovered than what we would normally see. Our minds are like a council of speakers, voting and deciding what to do. whereas the multiple-personality person has each speaker taking turns at the helm.
Each character is still an element of the fractured whole, so to me it seems like it would be a screwed up, highly expressive, form of suicide

Why
would the suicide need to be a homicide, considering both the assailant and the victim would be dead anyway? Holding a gun to your own head? Yeah, that is threatening to kill yourself should desperate demands not be met, even though one part of the person would highly object to the situation and feel a lot of psychological angst. However, that happens to a normal person too, just different effects on the mentally deranged.

Maybe.
I think it only becomes a hostage and homicide situation if those personalities comes out.

hmmm
little hard to charge someone with murder or lock them up if they are holding the people in their heads hostage...

Dont think this makes any sense but...
If they are in your head arent they hostages anyway? Besides we all got that angel/devil thing going and most people talk to themselves with the many who answer back. There are also those times when your thinking and kinda talking to yourself and then other thoughts come streaming in like from someone else...unless thats just me. We all in theory have a hostage situation in our heads but if you killed yourself then I think you just were crazy. Otherwise almost all cases like this would be hostage/homicide resembling.

Hmm.. Here's a true story.
I've taken several psychology and sociology courses over the past two years and one of my teachers used to be a therapist. One time she had a patient that had four different people in the same body. The person had been seeing my teacher, then a therapist, for a couple of months and had had a myriad of problems. But the main one was that the patient was a girl and had a boy friend. Well the other four personalities where girls but one personality didn't like the guy that was her boyfriend. She was insistent on having a boyfriend seperatley from the other personality. Well the other personalities all agreed that that would constitute cheating. So they refused to let her do that. Well out of desperation at the thought of never having a liecided to take her life. Right before the act though a different presonality gained control and called the therapist. Her exact words were this "Help, please. She is going to kill all of us." I think that that was a critical situation. But whether it is homicide or not is up to you.
