Is believing in God a Moral thing to do?

MORAL
adj. 1: exhibiting goodness or correctness of character and behavior
adj. 2: arising from conscience or the sense of right and wrong
noun 1: a concisely expressed precept or general truth

Does “Believing in God” make somebody a better person?.... “Yes?”, “No?”, “Maybe?”
  • I don't think it's moral or immoral

Believing in God will help some people become better people. It will also help some people become horrible people. And for some it won’t make a difference either way. But the act of believing itself has absolutely nothing to do with morality.

  • Believing in God is the RIGHT thing to do...!

I’m tired of people judging what is right and wrong by what THEY think is moral. (Again, read my first poem on truth.)

God IS truth—therefore we should look to Him for answers—not morals. Because morals can be what YOU think is right—and we all know that the morals of rapists and murderers are TOTALLY different from an honest judge’s morals.

And besides, morals without Christ are legalism. So, believing in God is the RIGHT thing to do…However, if one believes in God, one must believe in His Son who died for us as well. As Jesus (His Son) said, “He who hates me, hates my Father as well.”

Because….Just believing that God exists doesn’t get you into heaven—the DEMONS believe that God exists and they tremble!

  • Morals

Morality might be the by-product of the Christian belief but it certainly is not the true intent for a moral person is no closer to God than the immoral. Being socially acceptable was not Christ’s purpose on the cross.

  • Depends.....

According to the Christian God; Yes. It’s how you prove your faith/loyalty and gain eternity.
According to human logic; No, not necessarily. Believing something doesn’t do or undo actions that are otherwise moral or immoral.

  • confusing

i dont think the 2 necessrly go hand in hand, u can be one with out the other. for example, the story in the bible (i cant remeber the name right now) when god tells the man to take his first born and kill him, now that was a conflict between god's command and what he had forbidden, now me personally i could not be invovled in the act of killing some one, for the main fact that my heart and morals could not handle it. but then maybe that would make me a bad christian. it would be a very uncomfortable place to be in, if you was devoted christian and also devoted to what is moral

  • sure thing

If a person is enhanced by means of intelligence, then yes. Knowledge of God is a great form of intelligence, so the person must be a bit smarter in the least. Also, being wiser is a good thing. And a person who believes in an all powerful being as God is obviously more capable of acting with widsom than some one who does not believe and turns out to be wrong. So, it is confirmed. Believing in God is beneficial to the human. Side effect may include pondering of life's meaning, questioning which God is real and which is not, asking if you have reason to fear God.
