Origin of Science...

I laugh when I see the bickering between Christianity and Science, just as a teenager would resent his/her over-bearing mother. Christianity was the birth of science, they just forgot until the Renaissance when the views of the church had strayed from discovering how god worked, so they set out to find out how god worked, they crossed oceans, conquered natives and settled hard, developing their science and sharpening their tools, forgetting christianity, now science is coming to conclusions that christians find offensive, yet, it's what christian's have been waiting for, proof of their god and how he works. Any thoughts? I'm sure this'll spark some sort of discussion.

I would imagine science was around long before Christianity. Plato--much more a philosopher than a scientist, though arguably anyone using logic is a scientist--was born hundreds of years before Christ.

Science and "Christianity" cannot merely shake hands and work together, because their views often oppose each other. Billions of years worth of evolution vs 7 Days of Creationism and all that.

In my view, it is up to the Christians to accept science as an explanation to God's greatness and methods of Creation. In other Christian's views it is up to the scientists to accept God's miracles as the method behind mysteries of science. To other atheistic scientists it is up to Christians to denounce their faith and embrace fairly strong theories.

Sure we can ignore each other and mind our business, as we typically do, but when this gets in the way of how to educate our young and further our progression to our own desires and perceptions of rightness, how can we merely smile and say "Let's just not say a word! Let them invent new ways!"

  • Isn't it great
That God has created everything with a level of complexity that makes us want to study and learn to understand how He put everything together? He is amazing. Actually, my "guess" is that man started experimenting to learn how to be more efficient killers. Then as our survival was more or less assured they moved on to trying to ease life's burdens. As civilization expanded, it allowed for some to have enough free time to devote soley to scientific pursuits.

  • Science Predates Christianity
Christians did not give birth to science. That's not really a philosophical debate, it's fact. Pythagoras, Aristotle, Plato, Sophocles, the Egyptians (sorry I'm not up on names of ancient Egyptians, but they did build those pyramids), the Natives of the Americas, etc etc.

  • people just don't belive
Well, people are born, and raised. People don't want to believe this world is mad by God or they are Made by God. So try strike a finding. They won't believe the rubbish about the Bible. So they go find it. Of course the Bible is right, but they come with alternative stuff, that isn't the best choice.

The big bang saids there is no god, just somehow a fire was started. Why is this existing, because they don't want to believe God did it all. He is the one to make this place though. So now they have lots of theories, and facts they supposedly say to back this non Godly matter up. They just won't want to believe. They certainly can but they don't want to!

  • Origin of Science?
Science is Gods favorite tool and was here before the Earth was here. what origin?

God says, "I Am the Light." Light is the ultimate form of energy. God knows this, but the writers of the Bible were simple shepherds passing down songs or stories. They had no clue that light energy was most powerful form of energy. Yet they related it that way, word for word, for generations.
