I was meditating for a while yesterday...
There's no point fighting over religion.
The Bible alone is full of contradictions, but we need to keep in mind that mortal people wrote it with their own understanding of God. He didn't interfere.
All religions are right in their own way, because they are a way to experience God. Do you really think God would let little children in far off countries who have never heard of Jesus go to hell? That's not God.
All religions are ways of experiencing God. I am Christian, but in this way I was taught both that Jesus is the only true son of God, and that we are all children of God. It was one prophet’s wording that we’re fighting over. A mortal mistake, trying to be erased by another.
I don’t agree with a lot of ‘Christian’ views, though- specifically the views on homosexuality and other ‘lesser’ humans. I have a strong sense of empathy and I am a firm believer in human rights. What the hell does that have to do with becoming close to God? Nothing. Humans trying to please God with rules when he wants us to love each other. Priests spread the word of God, but who said they were close to him?
Who are we to dispute whether another son of God was sent to earth? Why not? God revealed Christianity to me because I understand it and I experience God myself through Jesus' teachings. There is also a lot of meditating involved, as you can tell. Even an atheist experiences God and is generally a good person with morals, somewhere, anyway.
I'm sorry, but God loves you, even if you don't.

If you want to get close to God but do not wish to hear what He has to say, then there will obviously be some conflicting issues as to whether or not you truly do wish to be with Him, or just stay within your mind's confined idealism.
If you think that your way is better than His, why do you bother?

All who ever lived will have their resurrection at God's appointed time. It is then that they will have the opportunity to accept God and Jesus' sacrifice.

The Bible was written by mortal man but with the devine intervention of the Holy Spirit. In my minds eye I see this as a wonderful way of revealing God's very nature to us. In this way we get God's word but without loosing the emotional flavor of the writer.
No, I do not believe God will allow someone who has NEVER heard of Jesus Christ go to hell. First, God sends no one to hell. Each person is responsible for their own actions and decisions so in that sense we all control our own eternal destination. Secondly, if you have NEVER(and that is the key word) heard of Christ in your life then God will not hold you responsible for any information you have never received. Another example, I teach a special ed class and without doubt I know every one of them are saved by Grace through Christ. Do they understand fully about Christ since they have mental disabilities??? HHuumm...probably not, but God will not hold them responsible for what they have no hope of processing in their minds.
~~~Who are we to dispute whether another son of God was sent to earth?~~~
God's word says the "ONLY' begotten Son. There is only one Son of God, in fact He is the "God Son". DO you know what the difference is??? If not think about that wording a little while.
~~~Even an atheist experiences God and is generally a good person with morals, somewhere, anyway.~~~
I agree but quite honestly being good and moral has nothing to do with salvation at all. If so then it's based on your own deeds instead of what Christ did and that goes against what God reveals in His word. To me that is like saying you have to be clean in order to take a bath. It makes no sense.

People experience God and are saved with only that which God has provided them. One man has been living on a deserted island since he learned to walk all by himself and has never even heard another human speak much less read a Bible. He has no knowledge at all of Jesus Christ. Another man has been raised in a Christian family with Christian values and understands Jesus' sacrifice and the free gift of Grace He offers for mankind. Both of them make do with the circumstances God has provided them to be saved. For the Christian man, he simply has to accept Christ's free gift and he shall go to Heaven. For the man on the deserted island, he can't do this. Instead, he must survey his surroundings and ponder their origins, and somewhere along the line, he comes to accept that a beautiful, all powerful being, something he could never comprehend but he knows is there, is the one who created the beauty that surrounds him. It is this way that he goes to Heaven; using all that God has provided him in his current situation to understand and accept God's glory and wonder.
On a side note: I'm not disagreeing with you with the Special Ed children but simply pointing out another possible way they are saved. My mom teaches Special Ed children and many of them understand the simplicity of God's free gift better than any "normal" people you'll find. There was a boy on a plane named Billy Jack, who was fourteen and on the flight to see his father at the airport.(true story). He kept saying to the man next to him and all the flight attendents each time they passed by, "Don't forget to look after me!" happily. He talked to the man next to him about
the special school he attended and the medication he took. "Could you please remind me to take my pill in a few minutes?" he said to him. "I get confused a lot real easily." He spent most of the flight asleep after that but as the plane landed he lifted his head and said to the man next to him, "I'm going to see my dad. I'm really excited to see him because he looks after me."
I think Billy Jack would understand and accept God's free gift of grace very easily.
