The war and Americans

I see it every day, I turn on the news and i see the war painted as a good thing children smiling and the such.On the news we see guys shooting at "insergents" but we don't see ware those rounds are going, we don't see a kid of 17 fighting to get the occuping army out of his nation get his bacl blown off by a m16 rifle fired by a kid of 18. we see humvee's get blown up but we don't see the bodys torn in two or three pieces.we see bombs be dropped but don't see a wedding get hit or a school. The media shows the "bad" guys kill people with car bombs but they don't show what we do every day.People say the war is good it's for the iraqy people but tell that to the mother with no kid of the girl with no legs.Say that to the deads troops the ones still alive with no legs or arms. The media is controled by the goverment in one way or another it depends on the company,as Americans we should see through the lies but we don't. Never in any other way has American gone on like nothing is happing. Why?
  • Ah -- the glorious media.
That's why American's don't see or actually care to any great extent beyond the "support the troops." Of course people support the troops.

And -- the war is not for the Iraqi people -- that is merely a cover to distract and allow our government to do what they desire there "because its to better the lives of the Iraqis."

Yeah -- been deployed there for 23 months total in 3 years. The war is bull, and not needed. Yes, we should leave now, and yes it'll be chaotic for the first few months/years. We've destroyed that country without conquering it. But -- at the end, their own form of government will come into place.

  • The War is a massive criminal act
I was one of the few people in my "conservative" town of Fairbanks, Alaska to protest the war from the start, and I was saddened and shocked by the apathy of my fellow Alaskans, and Americans in general. Did we ever capture Osama Bin Laden? Why didn't we concentrate on that mess? The fact that our president and vice president have profited from the deaths of thousands and the misery of millions saddens and angers me to no end. When I was a child, the Vietnam War was raging, and I thought that once we extracted ourselves out of that cluster-**** that we would have learned a lesson. But apparently, the military industrial complex, which even Eisenhower warned us about, has a tight grip on our government, especially the executive branch. Get out now, and start the healing process. America has lost its lustre as the shining city on the hill, and we have a lot of work to do just to begin to undo the damage that can never be undone. We must humble ourselves as a nation and join the world community in a helpful way, as we should have all along. Stop the insanity!

  • Seems to me
Scarily, that Australian society is being unconsciously motivated towards raising youth to think pessimistically of Americans, their form of nationalism and basically their identity, while retaining everything else American ourselves. We are America, we just don't boast about ruling the world because we don't; America does. When it comes to this form of hypocrisy, Australians are gronks. Because as it is, while many regard the war as wrong, looking at it at a political angle, we invaded Iraq too; we were simply the fool following the fool, the bigger fool, and yet while we are allowed to target individual Americans in our everyday banter and gossip, you can't blame us in the same light - it was all the government's fault.

Bickering, sniveling Aussies who are the epitome of all that they claim to despise, yet couldn't live without.
