The Value of Life

In my history class, we've been going over how little life seems to mean to many people in warfare, especially during the World Wars.

If you had to power to tell thousands of men to go and try to make it to the enemy trench in WWI, knowing that many of them would be [most likely pointlessly] mowed down by the enemy's fire, would you?

How much do you value your life? Others' lives?...

"The value of one life is worth a thousand more..." - Jesus Christ

So even one person is worth a thousand people. Every human being has value in the eyes of God and to at least one person in their lives... Imagine how many people would be affected if a single person dies. Imagine how you would feel if you lose a mother, a father, a brother, a sister, a grandfather, a grandmother, a cousin, an aunt, an uncle, a neighbour - a friend?

You see, every soul can accomplish so much in the course of his/her life here on earth. Why end it? Even the lowliest beggar can change a wealthy man's life forever! Even the tiniest ant is vital to keep an entire rainforest alive! Do you see now the value of life?

  • Hmm...
I think if it was absolutely necessary, I would tell the troops to go for it, but...I mean, many times it wasn't all that necessary to send men to their inevitable deaths. When you KNOW you won't accomplish much by sending the troops to the enemy trench, then why do it?

Just because there were many soldiers doesn't mean that every single man's life should have been wasted.

Even when times are tough, I value my life...and I value the lives of others... I would never, under any circumstance, send anyone to die in vain...
