Though gay relations and marriages have been seriously opposed by the religious circles, yet homosexuality is not vanishing. There exists a large number of people who feels pride while introducing itself as gay/lesbian. There are so many reasons for it including sociological, psychological, biological, economic, social, occasional and others. Homosexuals try to justify themselves by their argues, while religious people condemn them and call them the followers of evil. This is the platform to openly express all the views about the topic. Is it a psychlogical problem or something other than this????

The Science of Homosexuality22% Voted for by Ilsa, Emotions, personnamedclay, mprinz, cosmosis. (9 total)
They have done research on the brains of heterosexual and homosexual people, and there are almost universal tendancies in the thalmus region of the brains of heterosexual and homosexual people. Homosexual males and heterosexual females tend to have less dense cells in the thalmus, and homosexual femals and heterosexual males tend to have more dense cells in the thalmus. What causes the consistencies is still a mystery, but many scientists have settled on the theory that there is a gay gene, that is turned on in early childhood. In any case, being around heterosexuals will not make you straight, and there has not been one documented case that therapy can change your sexual orientation. All it can do is mindwash a person into acting straight temporarily, and that causes more harm than good.

People are not born gay. That is subjective.15% Voted for by Energizer Bunny, drkbrdmstr, -TheLoneWolf-, insanepyro6, looking4realtruth. (6 total)
Its quite subjective to say that people are born gay. Its the person's damn choice. When they entered puberty they experienced the emotions a boy or girl going through puberty goes through, regardless if its homosexual of hetero. IT is objective to say it is their choice. THey chose to become homosexual not cuz they were born that way,but because their feelings led to their choosing of being sexually attracted to the same sex.

who said its a problem7% Voted for by Kazrith, cosmosis, Leah Yeo.
if being homosexual is wrong, your too close to religion. religion says its wrong so people think its wrong. anyways, being gay/lesbian is biological. its a way nature controls the population just like a crocidle can decide what magority of sex its eggs are going to be. so if you think gay people are all about the anal thing then you are wrong, theres more strait people who enjoy it BECAUSE of the nurves and the tight feelings. amazing how straight people can become so dirty…

Are there any people in this discussion ...7% Voted for by transcendental baby, mprinz, Chanell.
who have any idea what their talking about? People are gay because they "are" gay .... they just ARE!!! And their choice to live a gay lifestyle is no ones business anyway!

Fear5% Voted for by drkbrdmstr, Dancing Doll.
Fear of facing the person of opposite gender pushes one towards homosexuality. And also, girls feel they know what may be the requirement of other girl. So, theit mutual understanding may ripe into the awesome homo relationship.

Hey faggot here, I think I would like to point out that until you are gay you really cant say anything that tells me its a choice. Question for those that think that way...Why the FUCK would we ever choose something like that, as much adversity as we have thrown at us. Use a little logic why dont you? I challenge you to tug real hard and pull the bible out of your ass and look at it objectively? Would or Could you ever choose to be gay?

Homosexuality is not a chioce5% Voted for by Empty Broken Angel, cosmosis.
I'm a lesbian and i say that it is not a choice, it's something that you discover about yourself. At first, i denied it and tryed to stay straight, but it didn't work. I had to come out in order for me to be truly happy with myself. I just want to ask one thing though for all those peole that still think it's a choice. This is something to really think about and it applies to straight people too. Do you choose the person that you fall in love with, or do you find them and realize that you love them?

it happens everywhere in nature. explain that, religions!5% Voted for by redbrita, Leah Yeo.
bringing religion into it imposes values upon others. i dont think stoning women is right, but i cant tell an extremist muslim to stop, now, can i? i dont think that making love (mutual consent) is a problem, so i dont see why it bothers the church - but i cant tell them to stop visualising people making love, can i? and thats all it seems to be. them imagingin two men or two women, and going "ewww!! it must be dirty!" and yet its happened for centuries, and happens in the animal kingdom too (insects, mammals, probably everything else). some plants can even fertilise themselves! OMG

God says stop damn it!!!5% Voted for by webdemon666, SilverShadow.
90% of gay men are born gay. that means that it is biological with a minority that are gay out of choice. 60% of gay women are born gay leaving the other 40% that are gay because of a tramatic event IE rape, sexual mulestation excetra. in all cases of born homosexuality when a man or woman is hooked to a brain scan and subjected to images of sexy women and men all case study subjects that are homosexual men will have the receptors in their brain light up when shown pictures of attractive men and vise versa. Now what does that mean in the terms of religion? I know several gay men and women who say the same thing. "God made me this way" in that it got me thinking in a world wide prospective. I was a marine in guantanimo bay during operation sea signal. Bill clinton's brilliant plan to bring Cuban migrants to amreica. I saw first hand the percentage of gays that migrated out of fear of death from the hands of cuban hate mongers. There are six billion people in this world. At what point does God Or Mother nature which ever you believe in say STOP!!!?

Sometimes, a man/boy feels that he is unable to satisfy the member of the opposite sex. So, he indulges in homosexuality and mostly likely play the role of passive partner. He feels himself sexually inferior to other males; and this inferiority complex also leads him towards the way to which the society calls “perversion”.

absolute crap? pft.
if what you're saying is true (which for the record, it's not, it's complete bull shit), then why are there so many gay children that come from extremely religious, conservative, homophobic families? this "theory" you have read is just that, a theory, not something that has been proven; a concept, if you will. RESEARCH, on the other hand, is done by scientists, not random people thinking about what their explanations would be. sheesh.July 7, 2005

hmmm
I think both of you are right. Scientists aren't certain but they did say it could be genetic. Maybe a person with those genes will have the time period of imprinting to those of the same sex.July 9, 2005
yes, a theory.
they have not identified a gay gene! what i said was not complete bullshit, i am studying science! psychology even, which is where i got the pedophilia concept from! pedophilia is generally unable to be "changed", treatment can only help the client resist the socially unacceptable urges. this unchangeable nature is why i linked it with another kind of unchangeable sexual orientation. what i was talking about is referring to socialisation, or 'nurture' rather than nature (genes). from social theories, you could consider this. religious families make homosexuality taboo. and just like the cookie jar out of reach on the top shelf, people are curious and want to sneak things. so this could contribute to any 'experimentation' etc. all i refer to is research i have read (including the fact that the 'gene' theory is not widely supported any more), so *quality revenge don't just assume that you are dealing with random person talking about their own ideas*. anyway, the time period of 'imprinting' (which isnt like a split second like baby ducks and their mothers, its just like what the particular environment maybe at a critical point in hormonal development) is different for everyone, if it has credit. like little kids who do the 'ill show you mine if you show me yours', girls idolising male movie stars and boys having bikini girl posters ( the 'norm' heterosexuals) etc.Kazrith
