Why do we need proof?12% Voted for by Evets, justonewish.
Do you hotice here that there is the basic assumption that belief in God needs proof or evidence? some questions: What kind of proof? How much proof? What wrong with believing something on grounds other than mere evendentialism?
This goes back to the enlightenment… it’s the classical assumption: evidentialism, deontologism and foundationalism. But WHY on earth do I need to provide evidence for everything I believe? We don’t normally form our beliefs this way about anything else. I think that we can hold beliefs that are justified without having the kind of evidnce that is normally demanded.
Now, some may respond “you believe things without proof? you silly man!” to which I respond: so what? Why does this make me somehow intellectually inferior or irrational? and why is that a bad thing anyways?
Just a thought.

Ponder on this, my friends.12% Voted for by jfritzyb, Poopsie-N-Kitten.
Romans 1 says that EVERYONE knows that God exists. However, because some people did not like to think about God, He let them do what they wanted to do… Folks, God is real and you KNOW that He is real. You are just trying to make a bunch of excuses by asking for proof that God exists—when you yourselves know that He does exist. To the man that asks for proof that God exists, I would tell Him to look at the trees, flowers, birds, and bees—they show the reality that God does exist. If this man makes excuses and says that these elements of nature only prove Evolution or other such atrife, than I would tell him that he is only making excuses—trying to shut up that part of him that speaks loudly of a caring God that truly desires that ALL MEN come to Him and love Him. Why would you want to refuse divine love? If I had an opportunity for divine love, I would drop any and all excuses I had, and cling a hold of this Divine Being—Him being Jesus. I would not care who said what about Him—I would cling to Him as if He were life itself—and He is…He is life Itself—the FULNESS of all life. Throw away that part of you that desires to make excuses and cling with all your being to the Divine Being, Jesus Christ. You know God exists—yet you don’t want to honor Him in your hearts. You are just like those people Romans 1 spoke of—those people who did not like to think about God in their hearts, but instead, worshipped the image rather than the Creator. I warn you this night, that if you do this, God will let you wallow in your own mire. Behold…He will let you do what you want and desire to do. When that day comes, you will say within yourselves, “How great it is to have no responsibility! No reason to guide us! What joy and gladness we will have amongst ourselves!” The Bible says that you will then forget all reason and do as you please—either lying with one another or lying with a member of the same sex. God says this—not me! If you will read Romans 1, you will see God’s punishment on those select people who do as they please—the punishment being that they get to do as they please—meanwhile, receiving their reward within themselves. What is my point in telling you all this? My point is to show you that having the belief that God does not exist, is your one=way ticket for doom. I don’t want you to be doomed. In fact, I wish you all would realize that Jesus really did what He said He would do. Why did He die on the cross for us though? He died for us just as a convicted criminal, faced with a $1000 dollar fine and not having a cent on him, is saved by someone, whom he doesn’t even know, stand up and pay his fine before the sentence is passed. Why would we go to hell in the first place? Well, it is because everyone likes to disobey God—disobedience to God is what sin is. Since we all sin by not following the Ten Commandments (the law), we are all guilty before God on Judgment Day and no matter how much of a good life we lead, we won’t get into heaven. In fact, if you disobey even one of the Ten Commandments, you are guilty of disobeying them all. And remember…It is BECAUSE God is merciful, kind, and just, that He would judge you according to the laws. If you disobey the laws, and we all have, you have to suffer the consequences. And THAT is where Jesus came in…. So, the reason I gave you that warning earlier, is because according to the Bible, if you think God doesn’t exist, you’re in DEEP trouble! And that is why I tried giving you those…details on what will happen—IF you continue to think this way. And like I said before, I don’t want you to get in trouble—I want you to love Jesus and go to heaven when you die.

Because each of those incidents requires interpretation in order to be understood as proof of God. Proof does not require subjective interpretation.

Pure FaithVoted for by elarnol.
Belief in God is purely about faith. If you can't bring yourself to believe in something that you have never seen, then you lack the faith required to know God. God is not a scientific being, he is a religious symbol. His existence is not be proven or disproved as if he were some scientific experiment.
