Tribute to Kierkegaard

A man I admire... What do you think of him?
  • Soren
Kierkegaard had his 'mind set'. He was to pursue belief, despite the irrationality that faced him... His mind plagued with the irony and wrought of philosophical angst, yet he gave it all for passion, passion to surpass the convicted, restrained mind, he did it, for his most inner most revelations, his one comfort; a lasting promise that no other thing in this world could provide. On this he modeled his entire life, devoting himself to celibacy in a sad twisted denial of his beloved, embracing the very agony that once gripped his heart before salvation, knowing full well he had to plunge back into the deep abyss, hands around the neck of Strife himself. He had to be victorious, for

"what the age needs is not a genius - it has had geniuses enough, but a martyr, who in order to teach men to obey would himself be obedient unto death. What the age needs is awakening. And therefore someday, not only my writings but my whole life, all the intriguing mystery of the machine will be studied and studied..."

    – Søren Kierkegaard, Journals

And thus, the devotion to the creation of essence through a God guided, infantile-left-wanting existence had begun. The transformation of the self by the leaving behind of the selfly faculties, other than those core elements - faith, and passion. The passion of love and the extension of the epica, the inner dwellings of the infinite being.

The transformation, away from the concluded nihilistic state of Nothingness towards one of full fledged Being.

Through all his ironies, parodies, pseudonyms, twisty, witty language and highly educated prose, he draws forth an understanding of the irrational faith as no longer negative, but a confirmation of who we are, irrational, and the one thing we identify to remain... Will.

Thanks and admiration to the life of Soren Aabye Kierkegaard.
