rules

who really needs them? wat do u think?
  • The fact is
There is no true freedom without law. The difference is that increasingly, man's law give us the freedom to sin, whereas God's law is the freedom from sin.

I believe rules are a false sense of control. Chaos is a natural thing. things such as minimal drug laws in amerstdam have shown to be succesful. However other countries with laws against drugs appear to having a failing system. i.e. United States. Ive also read of a country in Europe somewhere that no longer has traffic laws or minimal traffic laws (stop signs, stop lights, etc. it's basically a system of paying attention to other drivers and being courteous rather then paying attention to only traffic laws.) they have less accidents and injuries in vehicles per capita then the U.S.

Chaos can be a hard thing for most people to accept since most have grown up thinking "control through rules = good" however almost every other animal in the natural world (other then a few select such as bees or ants) live life day to day in a chaotic environment. Most are uncomfortable with any sense of control.

However, there are two sides to the coin. Total chaos would send us back to the caveman days with a "survival of the fittest" environment. Technologically we would go backwards. Most people would live in a constant state of fear.

so in a way rules are a requirement and a hinderance at the same time. its the oil in the machine that keeps technology and humanity evolving. I believe humans have adopted rules and most know they are benefitial but our evolutionary instinct of "survival of the fittest" hasn't quite kept up to speed. Which means, we are willing to break rules from time to time for our own benefit.

  • Of course they are.
Even if we decide that rules aren't necessary, and we aren't going to follow them. That itself than becomes a rule.
