Censorship! Just When I Thought People Where Starting to Understand

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
A gay highschool teen bought a page in his yearbook and added this picture. upon the day the yearbooks were to be distributed, the assistant superintendent brought this picture into question. the photo was deemed illicit and the super intendent ordered the staff to black out the picture with markers after considering that ripping out the page would damage the books.
the superintendent claims "It looked provocative, If it was either heterosexual or gay, it should have been blacked out. It's how they posed for the picture." even though other pictures of heterosexuals kissing were allowed in the book.

there were rules for submitting pictures: no shots of gang signs, rude gestures or graphic photos.

was the superindenant right to black out this photo?
  • inappropriate
I do not think it should show 'anyone' kissing. I think in a school system that is inappropriate.

  • Urgh!
Its just a kiss. It shouldnt be censored at all. Kids are gonna see guys making out together in real life. Its just a yearbook. People dont look at them after the years over anyway. Had it been two girls kissing Im sure that would have been allowed. Why is it "hot" for girls to kiss girls and when guys kiss its wrong? Its the same thing folks. A provacative pose would be someone sprawled out on a car hood or something. lol. If people dont like it....Dont look. Why is being Gay such a bad thing? No ones harming you and IF they are gonna go to hell....why is it your problem?

  • Homosexual photos should be allowed
Though the school officials might not be homophobic, they could be worried about what some conservative parents and students would say. I do not think it is appropriate to have such a lame excuse, however. Ideally, the picture would be allowed without any complaints. At the very least, the school should have mentioned kissing pictures in the rules.

  • What's the problem?
I have a feeling the superintendent was secretly homophobia and trying to use the "provocative pose" argument as a cover up. If a woman was in the place of one of those guys, I'm sure there would have been no problem. Heck, I'm sure a lesbian kiss would have gotten off much easier. The only thing I can make out of the pose is one guy appears to have his arm over the other and their kissing at an angle, rather then directly face to face. Since when was that kind of kiss bad?

  • Who Cares
If the "conservative" parents see the yearbook..
here's an idea. dont like it? Dont look at it.

Who cares if they're 'going to hell' If you feel so bad for them, ask your higher power for their forgiveness and leave it at that.

Who cares that the two young african american men are homosexual, there is nothing wrong with homosexuality. It's here, It's queer, and there is nothing to fear.

I feel sorry for the young man that shelled out the cash to order the page in the book.. does anyone know if he got his money back?

  • Homosexuality: The Bottom Line - A Life Enhancing Message
We all know homosexuals and unfortunately the vast majority was either sexually, physically or mentally abused as children or came from a very unbalanced single parent household. Others that realized their "orientation" later in life were not provided proper foundational value settings in their youth and are introduced into it through friends and pornography and their weakness of character makes them susceptible to "try it." Many abuse children, thus passing this problem along to them as their lives are also damaged. It has been handed down the generations this way.

The World Health Organization classified it as a mental disorder until 1981, then somehow it was removed, but the gays still suffered with the problem. Most have hundreds of sex partners and about 25% have over 1000. This devastating behavior destroys the psychology of the person and life is about using others and being used by others. It is unnatural like bestiality, pedophilia, and the hundreds of other sexual disorders. Millions of psychological sufferers have sexual relations with food, stuffed animals, plastic dolls, derive sexual excitement from eating feces (poop) and drinking urine (pee), etc. No one is born with these problems; they are learned from environmental factors or developed as unhealthy coping factors to deal with their problems as described herein. Others turn to crime, drugs, alcohol etc., to deal with these issues, or indulge in combinations of these behaviors. The entire gay community suffers from depression and other mental health issues, substance abuse, STDs, suicide and many other detrimental factors in their lives.

Solution: Give yourself a 30 day make over. Jesus offers a release from this curse that is true and everlasting. Find a good church that will not condemn you, but will help you overcome your addiction. Indulge yourself in the spiritual life for a month to give you a cold turkey shock to your soul. You will realize true joy in life and finally the peace you have desired all of your life. This will require you to change, but change for the better. You will learn to forgive those who have damaged your life and finally love yourself and your neighbor in a clean and pure way. You no longer have to live with this pain and struggle, there is a way out. Welcome aboard brothers and sisters, there is a new and better life ahead for you. After you take this advice given in love, go out and serve your fellow man and woman and give back to your community. Help spread this word of healing, love and peace.

    God bless.

  • Outright discrimination
The censorship of this picture is foolish discrimination. FULL STOP. Imagine how all the oppressed heterosexual masses would feel if some queer headmaster decided to black out images of them kissing.
If we are ever going to get over foolish cultural prejudices against our fellow human beings, this is the kind of place we need to start. Accepting displays of homosexual affection, and embracing them as we would heterosexual ones.

I think that picture should be plastered on billboards across the world.
