According to a statement made by Hillary Clinton , following the presedents State of the Union address, 10 years ago , the average worker had to work 3 years to make what his bosses make in an hour, today, they have to work 20 yrs to accomplish this

I read in the economist this year that even the stupid, useless, and utterly incompetent executives are getting paid for their so-called services as they leave their position, and that people accross the western world must work overtime in order to make life at all comfortable.

Do the maths...

There are probably less than one hundred people in the world who control capital worth about $600-800,000 in an hour. Neither you nor I know any of them...

Average yearly wage $30-40,000 x 20 = 600,000- 800,000
Average yearly salary for 'bosses'... assuming 40 hour weeks working 45 weeks a year (a generous amount of unpaid leave) = $1,080,000,000- 1,440,000,000

Funnily enough Dwn nobody earns that sort of money. The richest people in the world, have possible control of that much capital but it is mainly in the form of stocks- not easily liquidised into cash...

Stop being so deluded, my father knows many wealthy people (while not being massively rich himself) who are based in London, the financial capital of the world. None make that sort of money.

hmmm
america has tried in the past to creat a Isolationism environment, but in todays modern world, it is not only impossible, but impractible. yes many people are getting wealthy while others are being exploited, but its very easy to get on your high horse and state that without looking at some hard evidence. do you know 2 countries in the world who are trully Isolated economically?? North Korea and Cuba...and how are they doing with their GDP(Gross domestic product) as a apposed to the remaining superpower America about $25,000 lower. without even knowing you, i can say that you are richer than over 2/3 of this entire world who are desperatly trying to get money to survive. I can honestly understand where this viewpoint is coming from as we are led to believe this in many different forms of media and communication(and politicians are playing on this protectionism idea alot) but what you have to understand is we as people, who are forever trying to make life better for ourselfs are unable to do things any differently...I trully think that it is ignorant to believe that we can stop trade with others and also that Isolationism is a good idea.

the fact of the matter is, Pete the average yearly wage in the US is not 30 - 40k a yrs but closer to 12-15k per yr, and the unemployment rates reflect only those recieving benefits, so when you consider that the real unemployment rate is most likely in the 15-20% range and the under employment rate in the 60-70%range (underemployment, meaning an income level that requires two working adults in the household to meet the bills)that changes the numbers rather dramaticaly, dont dilude yourself, or as I suspect, try to delude others , Global corporatism only makes the rich richer

(and please do not tell me that Wiki has 'liberal bias' in this area, it shows every source for it's information)

As this includes non working members, and termporary workers such as teenagers, the average income for a mature worker would be much closer to $30,000 (plus that is 2003- income increases with inflation and growth...

Global corporatism has the potential to make the rich richer, which in my view is not an innherently bad thing. I will do not deny that elitism and traditionalism does exist in some corporate circles, yet the fact of the matter is that the ultimate goal of a meritocracy is achievable and we are going in the right direction. It is through this social mobility that the poor have the ability to, through hard work/ and or brain capital to aqquire wealth. Financial incentives motivate those to perform which results in competitive pricing and high quality goods and services.

Ah yes Dwn, my incentive to delude- because as we all know I am a greedy capitalist tyrant whos swimming pool is filled with the tears of African orphans. It is only by falsely portraying myself as a dirt-poor seventeen year old that I can possibly attempt to debate with you.

  you capitalists need to go back to your money grabbing ways, i can see Dwns point though, the way in which he is thinking is brilliant,utopic and very pure...like a new born!! capitalism is inherently evil as it uses expolitive mesures to help the rich get richer, but this is the only system where everyone(remember this is in theory)has the ability to make it big and be the next donald trump like you said pete. now lets go stample on the dreams of others so we can buy the latest ipod!

Dwn sees a utopia where homosexuality is illegal, anyone found with a seed of cannabis is subject to life imprisonment. That dream sure isn't my perfect world...
