dying to live

I was on a chat forum and one topic was about weight loss. A person was looking for ideas on how to lost weight. A lot of people were telling her not to throw up or to stop eating. Then one girl said to fast for one day a week and only drink water. Is this the same as anorexia? Could this lead to anorexia?

That doesn't sound very healthy. Fasting for religious reasons a couple times a year won't do much to your health, but once a week? It probably won't even help in losing weight, and possibly hinder it. Your metabolism will be completely off and eventually slow down, and you will likely develop stomach complications.

The best way to lose weight and KEEP it off isn't even to diet. Diets are only a temporary fix, you need to stay healthy. Water IS a good idea, it's great for weight loss and giving your body wonderful nutrients. Aside from that, I find regular exercise the best way to lose some weight--especially cardio. Exercise is the most effective way of losing weight AND looking healthy, and FEELING healthy. It's far more rewarding than starving yourself, both with visual results and how you feel. Diets can help, but you have to STAY on that diet. Pretty much forever. Once you stop you will slowly revert to how you were before, which is why I find them useless. Personally I find eating less portions of what you currently eat to be best, especially when it comes to junk foods.
