Even more interesting

...than the debate about Evolution or Creation. Is the question of the psychology involved in denying the obvious facts.

I have been able to demonstrate the mechanics of evolution directly, but have still been met with the biblical wall of denial.

It seems to me that the true reason for the apparent refusal to see what is set out in front of them is that if they start to see that perhaps the good book may be wrong in some regard then perhaps their entire faith comes under question.

Doubt is the true enemy of the faithful.

people won’t believe in evolution becuz they are comforted by the thought of God and life after death in a happy place…we are not ready for a different reason…we are afraid of death and we need God to ease the pain…

  • Evolution in harmony with God

How on earth does evolution undermine God? You can have a divine creator/force AND evolution. The only thing evolution undermines is the Bible, and the more I see people hopelessly trying to defend the book, the more it becomes obvious that the Bible is little to do with God at all...

i have asked similar questions (though less eloquent)...

i think that it is deeper than defending a belief...

christianity seems to have this mob-mentality attached to it that hates change... it's not that is threatens the bible at all, it just that "other christians have said evolution is wrong and i dont have the time or the drive to read the damn book so i'll just agree with them because they probably know what their talking about"

it is not defending a belief, as much as defending a tradition of blindly following in their "fathers" (biblical, religious, or genetic) footsteps...

you must understand that thought is a threat to the christian dogma... this is not my opinion, this is fact... the word heretic, a name given to those who threaten dogma, literally means "to think"...

they, themselfs have labeled thought as a threat...

we are to look at this in a psychological prosective, it is because of people manufacture evidence to prove either side wrong, which ends up being a stalemate

    1) There is no definitive proof of evolution yadda yadda. If I were to look at the mechanics of the matter, I probably would go with evolution, however, as Weydon has so often demonstrated, this does not solve the problem of how the universe, nay, even the concept of universe itself, came to be. Though, I still give some credit to intelligent design debate. I do not adhere to it, but it has shown effectively (evolution of detriment and contained physical adaptation to environment) that evolution may not be true and has not been proven.
    2) The Bible gives way to a mysticism that transcends the ordinary perspective of what is seen is all there is. As the Bible shows a day old adult bearing the years of a 30 year old man, and the belly button of birth, so too may the earth bear the tell tale signs of a supposed, (if you are narrow of mind), vastly old earth with a process for creation (that explains only back to the creation of life, not energy).

  • well
in my opinion most ppl believe in evolution because they want to live their lives in the manner which they want to.
just remember that evolution is still a theory its not fact.
if you wanna see something scientific that doesn't compliment the "theory" of evolution at all then check out these links
