Do people who kill themselves(suicide) go to hell?

  • some might say yes, but not me
if you are to the point of wanting to die badly enough to kill yourself, then you are already suffering as much as hell can offer you, so whatever sins you may have committed, you've paid for in pain. besides, as Weydon pointed out, Hell is for evil-doers, not some poor fellow who's only crime is being broken by the weight of a heavy world. if a suicide did go to hell, it was probably for the evil he did, and not the act of suicide itself.

That does not mean that God approves of suicide... quite the contrary! God wants people to lean on HIM during troubled times, and he gives peace to those who do, so if you are trying to kill yourself, you are not putting your focus where it needs to be. Now, is this a hell-worthy sin? i don't know, but my guess is no, BUT I can say with certainty that it is not the will of God that you should take your own life.

  • Why would God send my best friend to Hell?
My best friend CJ killed himself in 2006 on feb. 28. Many people say that he is in hell because the bible says so. I just don't understand how that could be true. Why on earth would God send him to hell for trying to find peace for once? He suffered so badly. It was hard to say goodbye, but I know he suffered way to long and was hurt by so many. I wish i could have stopped him, but it is to late. I just wish I could have said goodbye

  • No
Absolutely not. The amount of emotional strain and trauma going through someone where they'd be willing to end their lives shows they were not in the proper capacity to be judged by the silly standards we give ourselves. Anyone who says different is just toting the fact that they obviously didn't commit suicide and that this somehow makes them a better person in the eyes of God. Suicide is tragic, not evil.

  • If hell even exists
Well this is the way I see it. Hell is a made-up idea with no evidence to support it, so I think it's very unlikely to exist at all. More likely is that it was seized upon by authorities to scare gullible people into doing what they wanted them to. So I wouldn't worry too much either way about what happens to people that commit suicide, in reality we just have no way of ever knowing.
