My boyfriend is very spiritual. He grew with religion, whereas I did not, so the believing that there is some higher power is somewhat beyond me. Due to his influence I have come to think more exclusively on the subject of "God."

god is unconcious
I've been thinking about this for months now and have come to a pleasing conclusion.
There are, undeniably, forces in this universe greater than us, such as nature, gravity, and what not. There are also those difficult to define concepts of time, space, and fate. These are all things people typically associate with God, a god or gods/goddesses. So, if these things exist, then we could say that "God" exists.
However, this is where my opinion differs from the mainstream--I don't believe this force, or god thing, is conscious. This means that this "being is unaware of its existence and of how it affects the world. This brings me to think to say: there is indeed a higher power, if not more than one; however, the nature of this higher power isn't quite what we thought it was.
It is energy, the force of nature. It cannot be appeased or anger. It can't listen or speak. It merely exists, working silently in the background without the slightest regard to anything beyond it.

"GOD"
by definition God created us... therefore he is our ruler... what can the creation say to the creator. but he so loves us that he gave us free will. we became able to deny his existance because he would much rather see us accepting him of our own will than to just accept him, ofcourse im using the term "him" very losely for technically there is no gender to God. now as far as religions go they all say the same thing. put God first and love others, so that you will be rewarded after death. although i stand in the stance of what is right is right irrelevent of whether you get something good out of it or not. im a mexican catholic so my entire family is very deep in religion. all i can say to you is to search your soul... for what you believe in. i may have been born a catholic but i haave always and will always question my faith and religion. because if you dont question how will you grow, how will you believe, how will you not be decieved. so search and question... read the bible... the best one i have heard of so far is the NEW AMERICAN BIBLE THE CATHOLIC YOUTH BIBLE. the reason i say this is because it is the resulf of many ppl trying to get to the original documents instead of having to translate a translation and it gives you the believes held by catholics and how other religions see things and it states them as they are. so its a good place to see what the beliefs are and to question everything, ofcourse it gives you a lot more on catholosism. if confused you can ask me or anybody else here... we will gladly offer what we know and believe for furthering your journey we call life.

God is not unaware of his own exstance, however mankind became so vile , that he no longer sees us nor acknowledges our existance except under the covering of the blood of Christ, Jesus does intersede with him for us , but he onley allows himself to see that which is brought before him by JesusGyne and Tonic

many of the ancient religions believed that light was god. which has been aquired by many of the religions of today (ie christianity). people depict god as light guiding them. as scientists know, light is merely energy.petethemeat

"if proven false what a commotion that would be although technically thats impossible"
Granted, the lack of supporting evidence does not necessarily prove something's nonexistence; however, it suggests that it doesn't. At least, that's the rational approach to it.
