Saved?

So Im a christ follower but theres one thing i dont really understand. how can it be that if being saved by Jesus is the only way to heaven, then what about the people in the rest of the world that havent even heard the good word of Christ? How come they don't get a chance?
  • Of course they do
That would be terrible. Heaven is supposed to be the place of eternal happiness. I don't know how happy I'd be knowing the wonderful Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, Jews, and atheists I knew have to suffer because of that--not to mention the COUNTLESS people that have and will pass that I didn't know.

Jesus loved people based on their merits, regardless of their religious position--as evidenced in The Good Samaritan and how he opposed corrupt Jewish scribes in favor of women and poor. Plus I believe He was pretty famous for His love, mercy, and humility. Not His annoyance when people didn't know who He was. Jesus, the Son of God with infinite power, would wash other people's feet. But He sends you to hell for being a good person that picked the wrong religion?

A Christian walks up to a native american and says "you must accept jesus christ as your savior or you will burn in hell." the native thinks for a second and asks "i have never heard of this jesus christ. would i burn in hell if i never knew of him?" the christian thinks for a moment and says "no, if you did not know, you would go to heaven" the native looks at him for a while and says "then why did you tell me?"

  • I have often wondered the same thing
I've heard many times from Christians, Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven. Are there any Christians on here that agree with this? If so I can't say you're wrong for sure, it just seems extremely unfair to base entry to heaven on which country and therefore religion you were brought up in. What if, say, a Buddhist lived their whole life doing nothing but good, would they go to hell?

My opinion is that this assertion was made by religious leaders for no other purpose other than to exert power over the masses. It just seems too conveniently simplistic - follow us or you will spend eternity in hell.

  • Ignorance......
The Bible tells us to prove ALL things and to study to be approved. It also says that wisdom comes from obedience to God. There would be no questions about how and what happens and who can or will be "saved."

It is simple really. There are very few doing God's work today (Jesus calls them a little flock). These are those known as the elect. They will rise to meet Jesus in the air at His return. First those that are His that have died and then those that are still alive. They will be transformed into spirit beings and come right back to earth with Him (it is speculated that this will be a 24 hour period or less). Then those that are left alive that are not the elect will begin to learn God's ways, being taught by Jesus and the elect. Satan will have been put away for a thousand years and not be able to deceive anyone. At the end of the thousand years, everyone who has ever lived will be resurrected to their physical bodies. This is evryone. Those who have known God and Christ and those who have never even heard of them. This is their opportunity to learn and accept God's ways. Those who refuse at this point will be the ones who are cast into the lake of fire. The second death, from which there is no resurrection. All who accept and live God's ways will eventually become spirit beings (who cannot die), with the powers of God. Born spiritually into His family. A brother of Christ and heirs to all that God has created. Everyone will have their opportunity. The question is, what will you do with your chance?
