I'm not saying this picture is or isn't an accurate depiction. I'm just using it as a means of opening up discussions to better understand how someone might really feel about things, or how I might possibly feel if I were in their shoes.....thx

well you askedfar be it from me to speak for all gay people. so I'll just speak for this one bisexual person.42% Voted for by bob2314, Kazrith, top.hat.vampire.
to me homosexuality isn't just one issue. gay marriage is a major issue but it's just one. it's about the million and one ways i am slighted every day real or imagined. yes some of them are imagined. most of them are not. what i am is a bisexual but damn it i 'm not just a bisexual. i'm also a diabetic, a CNA, a man, a farther, an ex husband, and a person who likes anchovies on his pizza. i cheat on my diet but not on my partner.
i don't have AIDS. i am NOT a pedophile nor do i wish to be mentioned in the same breath as one. i love god but i don't love god because he has the power to throw me in hell. i love him because when i asked he helped me. whether or not i go to hell is a non issue because I've already been there. if i do go there it wont be because some vacant eyed evangelical decided that i have not had sex the right way. it will be because GOD decided i am not worthy of heaven. until that day i will worship the lord because i need to and i wish to.
one more thing before i go. gay marriage is not the same as polygamy, bestiality or necrophilia. it is the committed loving union of two same sex ADULTS.
BTW the cartoon sucks because it depicts heterosexuality as universally abusive and that's not the case. some of my best friends are straight.
-
Pretty goodI like the cartoon. Of course not all heterosexual marriages are so terrible, but half end in divorce and some that don't remain abusive or firgid or spiteful or out of security. Yet a constant excuse for why gays can't marry is because it somehow corrupts how beautiful and pure marriage is--when it already isn't as an institution in itself. But no corrupted marriage--whether it be a pure straight couple in the middle of abuse, or a loving gay couple that's just ICKY--can corrupt your own marriage. There's no threat.Voted for by Weydon.

hehewell, there is some truth to it. I wouldn't say all heterosexuals are that way because that isn't true.Voted for by Gyne and Tonic.
Whenever some says gay marriage is a threat, I tell them that the majority of serial killers were heterosexual, as long with many other famous killers and bandit and bad people. hehe -
Thought provokingAnd good to take into consideration, however, another attack on heterosexual males. What about husband beaters, or women that abuse their children, and why is she not portrayed as having an accountability for such things?Voted for by TeChNoWC.

Hypocritical HeterosexualsMaybe the person that put this together is gay. Seems to me as though they are making a mockery of heterosexual relationships and rightly so in some ways. I dont agree that men or women should be in a sexual relationship with each other but then again I dont believe husbands (or wives Tech) should be kicking their wives around or abusing their children etc.. What a telling picture of times as they are.Voted for by Applehead.
How long have we been on this earth? debatable i know but anyway.. point is we think we are so awesome, oooo look at our technology ooo look at all my money, my big house my fast car oh n I can even give my self skin cancer by burning my own flesh to look good wow we are so smart. Most importantly we have grown so much we have stable safe loving environments for our children to grow up in (hope you recognise the sarcasm)
Some may say, there are homes that are safe and loving. I would agree there must be some but not many and most of the ones that APPEAR that way are unfortuantely the ones with the biggest secrets sometimes.
Where is the fault? well we are reliant on ourselves to the point were we realise we cant actually acheive the things we want so we run, we hide, we buy furnture or we drink to make ourslves feel better. Truth is we are not smart enough to do it alone.
Whats the answer (pnktrky your gonna like this one
) LOVE , love is the answer. Not just "I love you" or "I feel loved" but love in its entirity. Love means to give, to care for, to meet needs, to support without condition. Can we do this? nah can we crap! not without help..

I disagree. I think it shows how heterosexuals have enough problems in their own relationships, which influence society negatively, than to be so worried about homosexuals. Obviously these problems are not universal. I think you see what you want to see.

help from the other side of the plate?
LMAO, so I've got to defend the heterosexuals now!the idea of political cartoons is too put forth an ideology.
this cartoon depicts a white heterosexual husband and farther as an abuser. it also implies that if you don't agree with civil unions you are a moron, abusive to your wife/ daughter and just generally a nasty person.
EB, on gay marriage you and i disagree. i don't think less of you or mudgod or any of a host of other posters who have contributed here in the past.
that doesn't mean i wont verbally lop off your head if given half a chance. i will!
i surly don't think your abusive morons. you are just people who are not ready yet to see the error of your beliefs.
allow me to clarify something: this thread is wonderful. the cartoon sucks. your use of it is good. if you asked the artist who drew this cartoon what he wanted to do in making this cartoon. he would probably say that he wanted to foster dialog on a hot button issue in the news now. the impression i get from this cartoon is that he wanted to foster a monologue. but that's my opinion and it is probably worth what you paid me for it.

The Line
For those who panic that those who push for homosexual marriage are secretly waiting for "The Line" to disappear so I can marry my neighbor's ficus (it's always eyeing me....), I propose we draw up the line now. This may be a radical proposal, but hear me out. The Line shall hereby be...consenting adults......I feel queasy....Applehead

My apologies, was trying to put across another possibility not actualy state that they MUST BE gay. You clearly know more about these kinds of thing than me so I shall refrain from further comment. Please register or login to comment! It's totally free
