Its been awhile since i been on this site, and right now, when I looked at the questions, i realized why I stopped coming to this site. Maybe its because some people keep on bashing the bible, my favourite book, the word of my God and when they make their accusations, they dont give evidence to back it up. For instance, one says,”the bible was written by men for men, with no divine inspiration from God at all.” Obviously, that full of kablooie, hence within this book, the bible, it clearly says (II Timothy 3:16) that it clearly has divine inspiration.

Don't be offended, I just like playing devil's advocate. I am sure of nothing, and only somewhat opinionated about that statement... and a few in ethics.... to my point; The Bible isn't really followed today. I can't remember the last time a cristian sacrificed a bull, and I think King James Bible (the coolest one) said you were supposed to do that every sunday. A bunch of the bible is "convieniently misunderstood" so If you are going to tell people to follow the Word, then follow Jesuses teachings and ignore the rest... though that might be a little misconstruted as well... Parts of the Good Book would be unacceptable in today's society I remember "Give not thy strength unto wemon, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings" and that saddened my badass-Female side a lot. So go and believe in God, but if you follow the Bible too closely you will hurt people's feelings. Religion in general hurts my heart, but neo-cristianity seems like a decent one.

leave religion aloneleave them alone, and they leave us alone, its been an ongoing fight for centruies to convert whoever else to your beliefs. ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! Im athiest and im a philosopher and writer, you are all just support and proof to my philosophies on the topic of human nature and the corruption of mankind even leading into reality vs societal reality. Its all in my book im writing right now on philosophy of life. Just leave the damn religion alone, go to seperate topics, dont argue over eachothers beliefs because its causing more disorder and getting nowhere at that.Voted for by WAHRevolution.

The Bible Doesn't Hold up to ReasonReason destroys the Bible. No questions, and, ifs or buts. The proof is that the seat of religious power is being held at bay by governments based on secular reasoning constitutions.Voted for by Brew Kline.
The Bible is old, man. 2,000 years old. What, are you still using DOS too? Windows is up to Vista, dude. It's faster, better and up to date.
If you believe in the Bible, one thing is true: you cannot reason. If you can, then the only religion that can surpass reason is esoteric Buddhism.

I agree, but....

cyclical logic
I am not here to bash the Bible, it is a great read with many valuable spiritual and practical lessons in it, but is it not false logic to say that a book has divine inspiration in it just because it says so in it's own scriptures? What if I wrote a book and said it was inspired by a divinity? The Mormon faith says that the new new testament [the book of Mormon] was inspired by Jesus' visit to the founder of that religion in the New World. I bet you don't believe that book is inspired by God, yet you have such strong faith that the Bible was inspired by God. Interesting...September 11, 2005

we can only trust the Holy Spirit
I'm very very religouse person, I don't bash the Bible, I simply address a few very important facts. The way certain things are said has changed, fact you can check, through the process of translation from and into different languages.
Fact the bible had been hand copied by monks in ink and quill for centuries, mistake can happen.
The Bible is a group of books that were choosen as the Bible because "they best cover the message" there are more books and I'm not just talking about the Dead Sea Scrolls.Who knows if the Dead Sea Scrolls are trust worthy.
But most importantly there is no way to be sure that it hasn't been tampered with, history shows that people have tried to alterate to support they sole beliefs, all it takes is one success at messing with it.
Have you ever heard of the "Black Bible" it was a bible printed by an old printing press, the assisstant forgot the "not"s in the "shalt not"s of the ten commandments so they all read "thou shalt -". It was presserved and sold at a charity auction a few years back.
My point is that it is apparent that God has left us responsible for protecting the bible's accuracy, becuase he gave us free will.
I have chosen to have faith in, at least, one particular part of the Bible having remained safe and unchanged, for certain. I put my faith in that we were told, that we were given the Holy Spirit to guide us and I feel that I can trust the Holy Spirit. The rest of the Bible I consider for insperation.

AMEN!!! There are more things to discuss than people's hatred of others' faith. I understand that religion and faith are important, but seriously, there are better things to talk about.
