Does heaven and hell really just exist on earth? Seems to me that both are always present (just consider the evil nature of all animals including humans). I would love to know what others think (please try to examine the question objectively).

  • I believe heaven and hell exists on the surface of this planet (and have always existed there).
I do not mean heaven and hell in the way that most people think about those places as filled with angels or demons or whatever. I don’t believe that when we die we go anywhere. In fact, I’m not sure what I believe happens to us post-mortem. Maybe we live on through our children and have our memories and conscious past down to future generations through that ‘unused’ ninety percent of our brains. Maybe then we are reborn at some future date. Hey, my thoughts about rebirth in a later generation may be considered ridiculous to some, but I feel it is as feasible as some other explanations of what happens after this life. Maybe we die and rot and that is it. I haven’t decided what I believe yet. I have decided that heaven and hell do not exist in the clouds or beneath the earth's surface or anywhere else other than in the minds and actions of the animals inhabiting this planet. Heaven and hell exists in nature and in the human world. Good and evil seems to be present in every animal (including humans). Oh, and if anyone wants to debate whether humans are technically animals then I would just suggest reading an elementary science book or just watching the National Geographic channel in between other mind-numbing programming that people seem to prefer. I would love to hear other opinions about this. Please try and examine the question and answer as objectively as possible - notice I used the words 'as possible'.

  • Eh, sort of
We are supposed to be the middle ground in most religious texts that believe in Heaven and Hell. Humans are capable of great good and great evil. Nature is capable of great beauty and sustenance, and great destruction.

  • limbo
I'd say we're in limbo, between heaven and hell, which to me combines as one state: Death.

  • My interpretation of biblical heaven and hell
In genesis if you read some of the lines like "and God separated day from night" you might realize that word they translated into day probably was more accurately "light" and night "darkness". So maybe genesis was saying He divided good from evil.

Later on it says He blew his breath into dust which took the form of Adam. Right away I looked at it as, dust (physical body) plus spirit equals human.

What if the physical world is representational of evil (and confusion etc.) and the spirit representational of good.

    physical times spiritual =
    evil times good =
    hell times heaven =

    you
