Why is the topic or are the subjects of immigration, emmigration, and the related areas such as assimilation, acculturation, and multiculturalism of such heated debate these days? Where is the global village headed with respect to the movement and organization of human institutions and artificial systems of the post-modern world? Do we need to review how we consider and believe immigration or do not believe immigration can continue in the light of problems in modern urban, suburban, and rural societies today?

My Ideas on Illegal Immigration
As far as the U.S is concerned, the topic of immigration is such a heated debate becuase of the number of illegal immigrants within her borders. If you've ever lived in a border town, you can the many consequenses this has for our country.
It's a good consequence, becasue it continues to diversify our country. We are country that was built by different cultures; that's what makes the United States a great and intresting country.
It's also has it's negative consequences. There are illegals within the school systems. I've heard that there are illegals with fake IDs and Social Security Cards that are currently residing and living within the U.S. They don't pay taxes, but they get the benifits of a free education within the public school systems, or health care that's provided by their employer. Who pays for this? The taxpayers do.
Another negative consequence: it increases the number of people within the lower classes. I wouldn't want to be 25 and working at McDonalds; at the very least, I'm going to shoot for the upper, middle class bracket. I don't believe that many illegals set their sites very high; what your average american considers a shite job, may be just enough to provide for them here and there families back in Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, etc. Those that do have illegal IDs are probably not going to want to get caught by using them to apply for scholarships, loans, government aide, etc that citezens and green card holders have access to. So, now there stuck surving paycheck to paycheck without a solid opportunity to try for better. This creates a growing lower class that drains the economy. The more of them that can move up to the middle class; the more the earn they'll buy things, the more things they buy will be expensive, and the better it will help with our economy (a huge plus right now).

We greasers, we niggahz, we waps, spics, pollacks, micks, limeys, and chinks, we just be all the same and our blood do bleed just the same as any of y'all, if & y'all cut us or smash us y'all can be found guilty in the sight of the Lord just the same, or in the courts of law, lest ye forbear and foreswear violence.

Another problem with so many illegals is the higher crime rate. How many people are in this country illegally because they are wanted by the police somewhere else? how many of them end up committing crimes in this country? if they couldn't be bothered to respect immigration laws, why should they bother with respecting any other laws? Did you know that the notorious nazi war criminal Klaus Barbie once lived illegally right here in the United States, while he was wanted internationally for his actions during WWII? how do you think drugs like cocaine and heroin get into the country? Coca plants don't grow in the north-american continent, and neither do opium poppies. they have to be imported. most of the time they are carried into the country by illegal aliens.
it is a huge slap in the face to legal immigrants, many of whom waited years for entrance visas, and longer still for citizenship, to hear politicians talk about giving amnesty to illegal aliens. It means all those years of waiting were for nothing. they could have gotten the same thing by breaking the law. I know a woman from Brazil who is just enraged about it. She waited nearly 13 years to come over here and marry the man she loved whom she met in Sao Paulo, and these jerks want to give free citizenships to border-jumpers?
