If you want one name that sticks out bigger than the rest that name is George Herbert Walker Bush son of Prescott Bush the Nazi sympathizer. Google my claims and judge for yourself.

The Mafia?Voted for by silverfang420.
I know it's a bit simplistic, and it's been said, but think about it. Lee Harvey Oswald was the perfect scapegoat. Too perfect. An outspoken Communist, who had recently maried a girl from Russia, and was known by everyone who knew him to oppose Kennedy's policies. He had also recently purchased a Russian-made rifle through a local newspaper. But why did Jack Ruby kill him? Ruby was closely affiliated with local Mafia. He had never met Oswald, and had no affection for Kennedy. In fact, Kennedy was tightening down on organized crime, while relaxing policies regarding Russia, the international red herring that distracted general attention from the Mafia's actions. It is my belief that, while Oswald did in fact fire a shot from the book depository, he was hired by the Mafia to do it. They gave him the plan (where to dump the weapon, where to fire from), they gave him the money to purchase the weapon (his finances were known to be tight, at best), and they made him (pardon the expression) an offer he couldn't refuse (he had lost his job recently, and at the time it would have been for a well-known Communist to just get another jo
. However, the way Kennedy's head moved when the bullet struck his throat suggests a trajectory almost perpendicular to that of the bullet from Oswald's gun, suggesting the men on the now-infamous grassy knoll. Later that day, several men were noticed boarding a train headed north. The men were poorly dressed, but their shoes were obviously expensive and well-shined. Suspicious, no? Ruby was ordered to kill Oswald when he was apprehended, because he made some comments on-camera while being transferred that would suggest a possible third-party involvement. Oswald's calm demeanor, however, suggests that he was promised (falsely, of course) that he would be acquitted. The Mafia couldn't simply leave the assassination unsolved, because sooner or later the investigation would inevitably focus on them, so they used Oswald one last time to wrap it up in a neat little package. The Warren Commission report actually alluded somewhat to a possible Mafia involvement, but at that time, such gangs were still a viable threat that no one wanted to bring down upon themselves by being the first to suggest their involvement. -

The Man Who Knew Too MuchVoted for by metaxy99.
I've read a bit about this, more than some and less than others. The hands-down BEST read, in my opinion, is Dick Russell's The Man Who Knew Too Much. I highly recommend it to anyone with any interest in the Kennedy assissination.
It would be a success on the merits of being a thinking person's guide to the assissination alone. But it is also an amazing story about a CIA agent caught up in the vortex - a man named Richard Case Nagell. It is thoroughly compelling as a kind of fragmented espionage thriller traversing half a dozen intelligence agencies in twice as many countries over roughly the middle third of the 20th century. It also provides really good historical insight into the dark roots of the American Right, glossing such figures as HL Hunt, Charles Willoughby, Edwin Walker, and the above named Prescott Bush. (Also section on GHWB, whose official deniability in connection with the events around the shooting is, as some of you may know, notoriously thin).

The Sinatra elementVoted for by ProfessorBertrand.
In all honesty it was Frank Sinatra. He was mad that President Kennedy wouldn't stay at his house during a trip and instead stayed at Bing Crosby's. Frank did the actual shooting. He hid in the sewer and popped his head and rifle out for a brief 5 seconds and got off 4 shots. He than ran 5 blocks south of Dealey Plaza underground to where Dean Martin was parked. That is where the song "My Way" came from.

JFK mysteryVoted for by Beena.
I think the CIA who had intimate connections with the mafia AT THAT TIME ONLY, fed JFK false information regarding war. Marilyn Monroe knew some in the mafia too and so when she came to know that, she wanted to call a press conference and so was put to sleep before that. JFK wanted to dismantle the CIA, the central intelligence, because of the false information fed by it, so they probably blew his brains out. Makes sense? To what extent the FBI was involved I can't say but obviously if the case goes unresolved then FBI must have been involved too AT THAT TIME. But I don't know the truth it's just speculation. Regarding the cold war and others, I think the heads of both nations wanted peace but not the ones lower down. If I was in JFK'S place, I'd tell the CIA openly, this can't go on. Either you stop or I resign, but to threaten someone with taking their job or livelihood away, I don't think so.
