Marijuana Vs. Alcohol....which is worse?

This is pretty self explanatory...which do you think is worse:

    I personally think that alcohol is the worst of the two.

    If you honestly think about it, lets compare the two. Marijuana is a herb that CAN be abused and most of the time is abused but do you honestly hear of people that were murdered or robbed because someone had to have their "joint" that night....I haven't heard that one yet

    When people drink alcohol, especially in excessive quantities, they become mean and overbearing among other qualities. We hear on tv everyday about someone dying because someone else hit them while driving a car or about someone getting robbed so that a certain person could have beer money.

    In my honest opinion I think alcohol is the worst of the two and should therefore be considered as illegal as marijuana. Now I do understand that if alcohol would of ever been made illegal, people would still find a way to obtain it!

    I've been around, and have seen a lot of things I would have preferred not to, and one thing I have learned (quite quickly) is how much more detrimental to society alcohol is compared to the effects of pot. Some may argue that because pot is 'underground' it makes street crime higher, but take a step back and look at the real facts, not just the ones the government stuffs down our throats. Number one, in countries where pot is 'more' legalized (i.e. Netherlands), there is a significant drop in crime rates, because it is safer to obtain. But even in our own countries (The Americas) compare the number of street fights, party fights, and bar fights due to alcohol to that of someone who smokes pot. If anything, they just want to relax. Alcohol is advertised to be safer because the government makes HUGE amounts of money off of it...why would they trash-talk a billion dollar industry? Alcohol is often consumed in excessive quantities, and thus is metabolized much slower than the THC in someone who smoked a joint to get festive instead. aka - intoxicated for a lesser amount of time = decreased stupidity. look at all the rehabs for alc...do you see a "marijuana smokers anonymous"? no...you dont...do you see friends puking and passed out because they smoked a joint? no...you dont. You argue about the health detriments of smoking pot...well, not only is it ingestible without smoke (which is the only factor leading to health problems), but alcohol has tenfold the issues...liver disease, brain lesions, many different cancers and bodily infections, sleep disorders, and sexual dysfunction. I personally dont drink to the point of intoxication and often find myself unable to relate to the stupidity of overly drunken people, i'll go out with my joint, relax and get in a few laughs, and all without the hangover. It's time for people to question the government and have a voice and thoughts of our own...see the real truth.

  • Alcohol is unquestionably worse
    There's a stigma around pot because it's an "illegal" substance, but the affects of the 2 drugs (yes alcohol is a drug, it's a dope, when you drink and get a buzz you're doping) are entirely disproportionate.

    You could smoke marijuana all day and still maintain a coherent conversation, walk a straight line, and not vomit your guts up.

    Have someone drink beers all day or do shots every 10 minutes, and you'll quickly have someone puking their guts from toxins and blacking out from temporary brain damage.

    Not to even mention vehicular manslaughter and DUI.

    If this country ever gets real about 'drugs' and finally decriminalizes a harmless plant that REALITY CHECK! People are going to smoke if they want to anyway! then maybe we could alleviate a giant burden on the justice system and the crime enforcement system.

    Enough with the war on drugs, people are going to dope if they want, whether they have to buy it on a corner, in a liquor store, or get a prescription from their doctor.

    I believe that alchol is substantially worse because it has absolutaly no benifits but endangering yourself. Marijuanna is a type of anti-depressent and has saved peoples lifes. Not that i approve of drug use.

  • not enough open experiance of Marijuana to understand the wide ranging effects of it.
    while i agree alcohol is worse i do not think that you can say for either without fully experiancing a sociaty were Marijuana has the same status of alcohol and legal useage of it. we cannot descover that wide ranging effects of it making it worse possible than alcohol?? it is a question i think about the nature of each seperate drug, the anger of alchol apposed to the numb mindedness of Marijuana. Which in the end would cause more harm and which is more controllable???

  • both are bad,
    one is often used in moderation without seeking mind altering effects. No one smokes marajuana for the taste. One is leagal , the other is not , thats a good way to keep it

  • An Article I Skimmed
    I happened to come across an article that claimed that marajuana was much better for you than Alcohol. It is not a killer, and quote the writer "Have you ever heared about a 'marajuana' rage?" The only reason it is illegal is because of a panic in the early 1900's that claimed it was horrible without any warrants to back the statement up.

    Also, if we were to ban alcohol, many people would lose their jobs and their freedom.
