  • actually

actually its only the Abrihamic religions that condemn homosexuality. all the other ones dont really care or they hold it in a higher regard than heterosexual love. this i have stated in many other debates.

  • What about the seafood eaters??

You know, in the same passage of the Bible that homosexuals are condemned, so are those who eat finless seafood like lobster, and those who wear a mixture of wool and linnen, which is apparently quite as a heinous. Yet you don't see the lobster eating, fabric-integrating community getting such bad press...

What did you mean there, God?

    Just a thought.

  • bah...

I can't speak for most religions, but my religion says that whatever is in your nature is something to be celebrated. Whatever you are is 'right', and no man or god has the right to condemn you for it.

  • Outdated.

Because they are outdated. Religions condemn many things... Perhaps the world would be a more coersive place if people learn to take what they say as a guideline, rather than a fundamental rule.

  • Not entirely sure on this one...

I dislike religion, so I may not have my facts straight, but from what I can see, some nations(i.e. the greeks) were openly bisexual or homosexual, and the christians, jews, whatever else there is out there, said "hey, they're not with us, that must be a bad thing!" Or maybe they saw them doing it and felt some kind of disliking for it. I don't know, that's just an idea I pulled out of my magic hat, I really have not backbone for it and I shouldn't even be typing it, but I am.

It might also have to do with the whole restriction thing. Sex is such a bad thing to religion because it can be so pleasureable and yet have no bad effects if you know what you're doing, so obviously it MUST be a sin. And because of that they restricted sex to just reproductive or whatever, and that's homosexuals are frowned upon, since nothings going to happen.

    Again, just random ideas...

  • Homosexuality

Some religious organizations condemn homosexuality because the people condemning lack intelligence. For them the peoples' life and happiness is less important and more important is something called RELIGION. Why? What sense does that make? Ask the condemning morons themselves, they will give you a reason. I wonder what reason that could be because religion is there for the good and welfare of society, not to make some in society insecure and unhappy.

  • All things considered

Okay i dont presume anything about either of todays views. Ancient religions consider the creation of a child between man and a women a sacred thing. Thats the impression i got from what i have read.

  • The establishers of religion were straight. (God is above lusting on His creations)

Most of the world's religions condemn equality between men and women. Does that make feminism wrong? Most of the world's religions say everyone else is going to Hell/an equivelant. Does that make most religion's wrong?

The fact is that most religions were established by middle aged, straight men. Most of whom were celibate and unmarried. That doesn't mean other people don't count and also doesn't mean that their opinions are the same as God's.

  • Ancient culture & repression

Concerning Abrahamic/Judeo-Christian religions, most are based off of the culture of a very long time ago. At that time, homosexuality, disabilities, abnormalities, etc were all thought to be unnatural. Perhaps they still are. This could be called Natural Law (the belief that everyone was given a bit of God’s insight into things, and thus they can make judgements about the world) or just the reign of what is popular and the repression of what is uncommon.

  • It sucks

I’ve realized this too. My little brother is afraid to tell my father that he is bisexual because he literally told me that he had a problem with men being gay but not women. I’m also not aloud to tell my grandmother that I’m bisexual because she is really religious and doesn’t believe in it.

By the way, the Anglican church meeting has asked the U.S. and canada to drop out of their meetings because U.S. has a gay bishop in New Hampshire and Canada has legalized gay marri=age.

  • Because its not okay to them

They condemn it because religion is a big pile of rules… in the bible (not at home so not gonna go digging for the text) that sexual relations with another man is wrong (im simple terms). homosexuality is okay in todays standard of “everyone is entitled to do what they want with their life, as long as we agree”

however, religion isnt todays standard, it was written in the days of old where such things as homosexuality was considered foolishness. times change, but religion does not. and it is good religion doesnt change, because once dealing drugs turns from a 20 year sentence to a slap on the hand,(and believe me, eventually we’ll all be like the swiss, where drugs are legal) those who turn to religion will at least have those stone set rules to keep them on the striaght and narrow, not just societies ever changing version of it
