Freedom isn't free - what does this mean?

okay, i was walking home the other day and there were hundreds of cars with a bumpersticker saying "freedom isn't free" help me out anyone who actually know the meaning of this sticker. i'm from Canada and i am lost with the meaning of it

  • Vietnam war memorial

Republican propaganda my ass. Have you ever been to Washington D.C.? I believe it is the Vietnam war memorial that has this statement on it. What it truly means is that none of the rights we have in our society were given to us freely. We had to fight for them. Through wars like the revolutionary war, the civil war, WWI and WWII, etc. Perhaps the war in Iraq is not going to give us as United States citizens as much freedom as say any of the afore mentioned wars, but it is going to give somebody in Iraq more freedom, and hopefully provide an extra protection for us against terrorism. Yes this war has something to do with oil I won't deny that. But if you think that is the only reason it is happening you are sadly mistaken. I also think that supporting our troops has more to do with appreciating that they are willing to serve our country in that capacity, since most people are not willing to do so.

  • Propaganda

“freedom isn’t free” Republican propaganda similar to “support the troops”. Support the troops actually means “do not question the president on Iraq”. freedom isn’t free really means “Sending your children to die for oil is the moral thing to do”. Funny thing with all this propaganda recruitment is down over 15% yet 51% of America “supports the troops” I think more aptly that yellow bumper sticker is a badge of hypocrisy. Right about now the intellectually weak in this group are saying that “I hate America” which of course is more republican propaganda.

  • I Pledge Allegiance...

"I Pledge Allegiance" A copyrighted poem by me, Brooke Thomas

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the Untied States of America

And to the rules and regulations for which it stands

One nation, under the SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE that says "Under God" can not legally be in this pledge

    Indivisible to everything but terrorism

    With Liberty for Soldiers

And justice to all innocent people with a large wallet

  • Freedom

Depends on who you ask. The receiver might not see it the same way as the person who gave his life.
