THEM...8% Voted for by ohsweetie2788, butterman.
I think that is not the proper Question but why are they created in the first place?? Cut out all the rituals, cut all the religious differences, seek it out in its purest form.. and you will see… It means Love.. the only way that we could survive in this world is through it. Look out for any religion that claimed that it is the Only True Religion… coz most likely those are the bvery religions that created strife and wars in this world…. They cannot be real.. sorry… that’s my opinion.. whoever understood true religion is neither a christian nor a muslim nor a buddhist.. nor an atheist.. they are only names for the “concept” that was already there.. Hit a dog brutally with a chair and see the dog’s expression of fear and grimace in pain.. if you can’t feel anything.. you have no “religion”. But if you can feel “something” that it is.. no further religuous manipulation and conditioning please…

We did...Voted for by vaia.
Even the earliest man had a desire to know where they came from. If you believe that this was Adam and Even, then obviously, you believe they were told. However, if you believe in Evolution, and have studied anything aboutthe numerous religions that predate christianity, man used to worship just about everything. Man worshipped the rain. Lightning was a sign of the power of the gods. The sun WAS god, for it was the source of all life. The moon was also a god, since it was there when the sun was not. This isn't a new idea...but a very very old one. Even Christianity was not the first of the polytheist religions (not that Christianity is polytheistic anyway, because it isn't). All religions were created to explain the unknown. As each falls short, a new one is created. They rise and fall to their popularity and word of mouth (all controlled by man), and change with the times (as man edapts, so too does their religion). If God, or the Gods had created religion, there would be very little change in it or the history of it, as Gods being perfect and all powerful, one would think that they would want their followers to at least agree upon their beliefs.

My Bible teaches me....Voted for by frndofyaweh.
Tht the purest evil religion, will teach love. It is 6000 years old by the way and faith is NOT created, it just; is what it is. Genetically and spiritually we are all born to seek God. Some seek Him wrong ways, yet still appear to find Him. That is how Satan binds us; through use of good things, he intices you.

Satan appears as SaintlyVoted for by frndofyaweh.
Satans religions, teach the purest good, love and moralistic values. Those are not the things God is all about. He is about; acknowledging His presence in your life. Sin is not the issue anymore, Jesus fixed that part.

Man develops religion, out of faithVoted for by frndofyaweh.
The Jews did that also and they made God unreachable by the average citizen. Jesus also fixed that part.

The Freudian approach...Voted for by newuniverse.
Old Sigmund said that religion developed ot of man’s need to believe in it. Though I do not belive that this is entirely true, and I absolutly do not believe that religion is the “opiate of the masses”, I do believe man created religion to fufill certian needs within himself. Weather or not there is a God behind the “God gene” is yet to be found.

explaining the unknown = powerVoted for by redbrita.
religion was born a very long time ago when man looked at rain falling from the sky and said "what's that?" it is all attempts at explaining the unknown. someone who can provide answers (no matter how right or wrong) holds power, and we all know how humans get with too much power...

We cannot seek it in purest formThat is how you end up on the wrong side, but do not realize you are on the wrong side.Voted for by frndofyaweh.
If there is a God, there is no doubt He would leave us a guide book behind. One that shows us how to test the spiritual realm for it’s relevance. Yes, even God says you may test Him, for proof of His Blessings. I follow that Guide Book to a Tee. It always works, it has all the answers and God passed my tests, many, many times now. -
the true questionVoted for by aloneINaSPECIALway.
the true question is there one true religion i think you should be more open to more religions take your time and study each religion somewhat closely i think youll see a little resemblence in each one. at one time i bet there was one religion just like in that game in the 1st grade when the teacher would whisper a saying into a kids ear and he would pass it on to the next kid who would do the same and eventually some kid would give the wrong information and at the last kid it would be way different from the original saying so at one time there was probably one true religion but what do i know im only 14 later -aloneINaSPECIALway

Religions?Voted for by lightningstorm.
i think religions are so different and vast because people are very different. Everyone must be able to worship the way they feel is best. There are so many different cultures on this planet...therefor people ended up having all different kinds of religions. Thats why you have to try to find the one thats suits you. God is in every religion, in one form or the other. Peace

A jokeVoted for by Aedon.
I think it just started as an inside joke that got way out of hand. Take for instance the GNAA. I don't think any of it's members are actually anti-semitic, but unless you knew they were just joking, you'd think that they were serious and probably belonged to a klan style organization. I think that it started as an inside joke of some ancient tribe making fun of the village idiot and outsiders started taking them seriously. Then it just grew into the attrocity we see today.

the Truth on the Creation of ChristianityVoted for by AWESOME.
Christianity was created by Emporer Constantine who convened the Council of Nicea. It was based on the older faith of Mithra, combining the miracles of Apollonius(who was a follower of Pythagoras). Jesus Christ was included by vote. Constantine desired a state run religion. Some of the outcomes include the creation of the BC, AD time lines; as well as the burning of the Library of Alexandria to purge all known records of Mithra and Apollonius.

Fear and ControlVoted for by VitreousSoul.
Religions were all started on the FEAR of not knowing what happens after death. They were also formed for CONTROL. Within a massive civiliztion CONTROL is a hard thing to maintian yet if you apply your rules based of mans greatest FEAR 90% of the population will listen. These are the fundementals of all religions. A way to COMFORT and CONTROL. People are afraid and alone on this small spec in the universe and we all know it. As do the religious leaders (i.e. The Pope, The Churches, ect.) and it's with this knowlage they can bend Mankinds will to their own influences. Hoestly if some one told you if you didn't do this you would suffer for all of eternity after you died, you would become scared of the thought and do as they say would you not? Thus FEAR used as a CONTROL. This CONTROL we sadly give them freely, may it be because we truely believe or just because we are scared. Either way Religions, all Religions, bend the rules to fit their CONTROL efforts.

.Voted for by cosmosis.
judiasm-was founded by the prophet abraham (hence the term abrahamic religion) it was spread by moses, ezekiel, etc
christianity-was started by jesus who claimed to be god. it was later spread by paul of tarsus and made the state religion by constantine which helped it spread.
islam-started by the prophet muhhamed(not sure if i spelled that right)it was started around 600ad. he preached mostly along the middle east.
buddhism-was started by a hindu prince by the name of sidhartha gautama (spelling probably incorrect). he was so fed up with the despare in the world that he tried to figure out how to fix it. one day he sat under a tree, cleared his mind of all desire, meditated, and reached what is called "nirvana" or a state of enlightenment. he then went and preached around india. it then spread to china, japan, korea, etc. where the buddha was turned fat and happy.
hinduism-has no one original starter. it was created by the society of india and it is said in hinduism that every person has a god dedicated to him or her.
i hope that answered your question.

Man MadeVoted for by Black-Angel-001.
Religion begins in the anguish of a man who faces the abyss of nothingness and who wanders through a broken world made desolate in the absence of God. Likewise, the death of God can be contrived only by man.
Deprive man of his god and he will either create one or die of meaninglessness.

its TIME which generates Religions.Voted for by meandmypen.
Religion, its the common belief that society follows inorder to maintain the harmony between the people living there.. Religion is not the mostdo work, its the willingness to be cooperative to other people. and these Religion, which exists in our society were all generated after feeling the need... Whenever there is unsatisfaction on something and people tends to move towards +veness then they themself begins to create a body, a boss, or a head to follow.. I want to share a real story of my country Nepal,.. 12 years old boy in terai region is meditating without his teacher.. and the people are believing that he is the next incarnation of the Lord Buddha, who was also born in Nepal in Lumbini. These days, Nepal is walking through the paths of internal war, and the incarnation Buddha is the need for this time... I think TIME is the real creator of all these religions, no matter which religion is that !! I have still not mentioned the story about the Incarnation of Ram !! I don't need to, i thought.. and what i hope is that, religion is the need and its the need created from the TIME we are moving. Time is the real creator of all those religions. Bikkil, Nepal

No it is not.
religion in the hebrew translation means false rituals. That is how Jesus used the word anyways. I am not ritualistic. I do not pray a specific way or a specific time of day or night. I just talk to Him when a conversation arises. no future servitude is planned. I take it as it comes. -----Christianity is NOT a religion; it is however, a way of life, a relationship.frndofyaweh
