There are good moral reasons for legalizing most drugs (assuming there is no way to simply take them out of circulation, as was done with Quaaludes), it is not that drugs aren't harmful (pot is pretty tame, but by no means benign) but the harms of criminalizing large sections of the adult, otherwise law-abiding, population are far worse.
