belief that nothing is real. NOTHING.

yes
i subscribed to nihilism for a time... but your description of the belief structure is off...
nihilism is a three pronged belief:
1. nothing exists.
2. if something did exist there is no way we could know about it.
3. if somehow we could know something existed, there is no way to convey that to another sentient being.
nihilism is the is almost like being existentially agnostic... and it works for some people... it really helped me get into my music, because it made me work for a life purpose instead of handing one to me...

It seems like a strange remark, I'm not sure what someone would be trying to convey by that.

One second, google will clarify:
* Epistemological nihilism denies the possibility of knowledge and truth, and is linked to extreme skepticism.
* Political nihilism advocates the prior destruction of all existing political, social, and religious orders as a prerequisite for any future improvement.
* Ethical nihilism (moral nihilism) rejects the possibility of absolute moral or ethical values. Good and evil are vague, and related values are simply the result of social and emotional pressures.
* Existential nihilism, the most well-known view, affirms that life has no intrinsic meaning or value.
(from http://www.allaboutphilosophy.org/nihilism.htm)
I dunno if it could be seen as a viable religious option without radically redefining religion so that it included anti-religion as a part of itself.
As for nihilism itself, I feel that it has its good points but is ultimately only destructive - it is also deeply antithetical to science, which I find problematic.
