Hey, what are everyone’s views on Stem Cell Research??!

if it's not hurting anything, it's pretty damn cool53% Voted for by Kevin, Coconut, MURDER she screamed, Forty-Two, dauer. (14 total)
Personally i think that if we can grow organs to help people who are suffering from a single or small group of cells, that is pretty damn cool and it’s not hurting anything. I think the argument against it is like telling us not to cook the egg from the chicken. Really, we’re not eating little chickies, it wasn’t fertilized. Beyond that, eating the chicken’s egg is worse because they didn’t give it willingly. but i do love my scrambled eggs, so…
(this is meant to hopefully start a conversation, i am sorry if anyone is offended.)

Embryos are not the only sources of stem cells. That aside, as long as no one is killing a human to get the cells, then they can research them all they want, as far as I’m concerned.
If an embryo dies, then use it.

Stem cell research will only better the human race, so the end justifies the means I suppose, even though I don't believe the means need to be justified.

I think that it is amazing. We can cure people with it. Plus its not hurting anyone because the child is not born. Its just people who are weirdly religious who seem to have a problem with it.

Hmm..I know alot of Christians are against it…but i don’t know I think it’s kinda cool…but idk all the facts…I don’t want to be for anything that’s killing fetuses or w/e…so idk

Waste not, want not.Voted for by A Desperate Apathy.
Stem cell research is a good thing, and people have to keep in mind that these are embryo's that will be thrown away if not used for research, they will never become little babies either way. And it's better that they don't go to waste, right?

Well, I've often heard that it's the same as sacrificing one life for another...
The thing is though, we do that with war and other things, and the person who makes that claim doesn't always not support war, which is sacrificing one life for another.
Personally though, I think it's great. Education is terrible thing to waste, and so is the opportunity of life. So whether it's to create babies or a cure for cancer, I'm up for it. I'd love to see much more scientific research done on it.

I truly believe that this could save millions of lives. The embryos the scientists are using will be trown out if they are not used. It seems silly not to use this that could become "Garbage" for the good of man kind. Sure, some of the embryos will be used in invetro, but not all of them. It seems to me that the goverment is being ignorant by not allowing stem cell research. I believe that there needs to be progress for progresses sake. Many other nations are allowing stem cell research and cloning and its helped numerouse people. I'm wondering if the president is blind to the fact the stem cell research can help people.

some people seem to think that stem cells are harvested from 8 month old fetuses but that's wrong. stem cells come from embryos that are only 1-5 days old and are about 50 to 150 cells in size. there is no nervous system nor organs, eyballs or vacal cords. people treat this subject as if stem cell treatment consist of placing a live one year old todler between a few slices of bread with mayo and ketchup and eating it. glad to see that so far most of the people in this string arent totally crazy.

Oblivious
I don't exactly know much about 'stem cell research' but I think that if it helps the world and is done for possitive reasons then there is no harm. I understand the what you are saying about the whole egg thing (I love my eggs too) and I'm sure that others will get that too. But There has to be an end somewhere. One day it's going to get the point where scientists can control and minipulate life forms extensivelly. Which could desturb the worlds peace even more. Okay, that was a little excentric and exaggerated but I am just expressing how others may see it. I agree with you though.January 27, 2006
