Witchcraftwhat do YOU think it really is?

Many people have heard, myths and legends about shamans, witches, etc. What do YOU think Witchcraft really is? The wicked witch of the west, or something that’s been hidden from the general public?

  • Witchcraft...is a GOOD thing.

I only need to state one line from the Wiccan rede, and hardly anyone could disagree with me. ‘An it harm none, do what ye will.’ Which basicly says, if it doesn’t harm ANYONE in ANY WAY, then don’t be afraid to do it. Leaves a lot of things open, but it covers more than you think, don’tcha think?

Witchcraft is widely mistunderstood is what it is, People too often automatically peg it as satanic, or Godless as soon as they see it, Which in itself is just stupid, far as I know "Wicca" and all things connected to it are heavily based off of a faith of one kind or another-and aside from the occaisional nutjob never *actually* connected to satan. Who I dont beleive exists, but thats beside the point. Ahem.

Paganism, witchcraft,Wicca, whatever you want to call it/them, are only other faiths, They cant be accurately compared to ones that allready exist(that are not themselves), because they really have absolutely nothing to do with them. Heh. So yes. Its just another Faith. A more agreeable one if you ask me, Wicca dont show up at your door at four in the morning and throw candles at you.

  • Not real

I would say witchcraft (magic) would be anything that defies natural order. In other words, the impossible all of a sudden becoming very possible. For example...a person who can instantly cure people without the aid of medicine. Or a person who can animate nonliving things. Not limited to those examples, of course.

Anything else, and I'd call it science. As you can guess, I'm not a believer in magic.

  • Hopes and dreams

I am a pagan I worship the Gods, I believe in doing the Gods will

However: I think that reason magick works the way that it does is because the person that is working the magick wills it to be so. I think that anybody who believes that what they wish will come true, then it will. Mind over matter. But you do have to work to a goal to make it come. (spells) Spells are just symbolic, working a spell is not what makes the spell work. Working the spell and knowing that the spell will work is what makes it work I do believe in not harming none and part of that goes back to the wise old saying that be careful what you wish for because it may come true. There is a threefold. This applies in any religion, christians included. "What goes around, comes around" Now do I think that if I wish hard enough for my homework to be done tomorrow when I havent touch any of it, will my home work be done? No, but if I do all my work and pay attention in class and have faith that I will pass the class then I will.

    Make sense?

  • all in the mind

it's just convincing ourselves of what we want. we can manage to believe anything we will.

although, sometimes it requires more advanced scientific knowledge than we have, before we can understand that some things actually do make sense... but i don't think witchcraft is one of these. but i could of course be wrong.

  • gods will

Witchcraft, i think, i the will of the gods acting through a mortal being. I doubt that anyone could use it to take over the world, since the gods would not likey give such a thing to a wiseless brute

  • science not proven

magic is science that hasn't been "proven" as far as is acceptable to most scientists. all magic is is the utilization of energy. it works much the way electricity works. by the way, electricity was thought to be nothing but wishful "witchcraft" before it was proven. wait...did i just relay this thought over a world-wide network of unseen energy, cables, and sattelites??? that's impossible!

  • Do

If you want to know what magic is become a witch, if you want to know who Buddha, become a buddhist and find out. Its as simple as that.

My opinion is though, magic is not a word, AND IT IS NOT WITCH CRAFT. magic does not stick one religon or rule of a person. It is a world wide contraversal exchange, it is whether you accept or not, but magic is not a word. Nor should it be called one. Magic is will and belief either bad or good. But you must know Karma exist in every religion, in every proof f aspect , a source of whatever you do comesback to you. So I suggest that it is will that makes magic than it better be GOOD will otherwise, I will have no pardon with you. Its is a matter of thought and true belief that nothing can defeat, to me it does exist. In every form. But it is not called magic, and it shouldn't be. I am not a witch, as I use to be but I use magic when I think I need it and for good use. I just don't use it to get back on an enemy for beating me at polo. Its An amazing thing.

And yes, considering the proof I had, I do believe in the magic. But all of my faith goes to God and not another analogy of Magic. Miracles is the path I would rather take, instead of magi unless I have too. Which sometimes I can't help.

  • Magic and witches
First off Witches are just people in the wiccan religion... the magic they use is reffered to as witch-craft, but that is not the only kind of magic. A lot of other pagan religions, pagan meaning the not so mainstream, have magic incorporated in them as well... For instance I am a Celtic Druid and we have our own beliefs on magic, but the point is that if you do harm with your magic the world has to balance it out. Because of this not all magic will work and that which does work will have a balancing effect. So as long as an unexperienced person doesn't meddle in magic thinking it is a cure-all then the world won't suffer. I recommend that if you do ever decide to dabble in magic, use it only when you must and only for small tasks, for you can't always see the effects that it will cause to balance the equation.
