He had a lot of power and he knew how to get the attention of people. He could get them to follow orders and was very organized. He wasn’t a bad leader, he just did bad stuff with his power.

A good leader??....don't make me laugh. In college I did a major paper on him and do you know he did soooooooooooooo many horrible things and it would take a person researching 8 hrs. a day 24/7 for a month to cover them all one at a time.
Just one mere Example: Do you know what he did quite often for so called "entertainment"??? He had his officers bring an innocent person (male or female) into a room to be strangled to death with a piano wire from behind. During many of those times the piano wire would cut through the person's neck severing their head from their body entirely!! Now you seem to make a direct distinction between Hitler as a person and as a leader. I DO NOT! Furthermore I do not think you can make such a distinction especially when considering him worthy of the title "A great leader". A leader leads by example! This, my friend, is only 1 of MANY horrible things he did. He was not a great leader......in fact he was a crazy violent coward posing as a monster who put no value on life what so ever.

He was an excellent ruler. He brought his people to power and could have gone much farther had he lived. But there is a difference between a ruler and a leader. He ruled his people well by bringing them to power, but he did not lead them to be decent humans. A good ruler but a bad leader.

Good leader, or good person?9% Voted for by Gosh I Love You, Cornilius, Alexxx, mysterydragon.
A good leader? Yes. He had many followers, despite the crap he put everyone through.
A good person? No.

I'm not saying Hitler was a good person. He's burning in Hell, much to my satisfaction. However, the economic policies that he introduced pulled Germany and therefore the rest of the world out of the Depression probably a good ten to fifteen years earlier than they would have otherwise.

A great manipulator6% Voted for by Kevin, Energizer Bunny, Dwn.
I agree with Energizer bunny that you can’t separate greatness from action.
He was very skilled in manipulating people to get what he wanted; he was a powerful psychologist, or had powerful advisors.

Hitler - initially a saviour, ultimately a disaster6% Voted for by Edna Sweetlove, NeferMaatNetjer, Eaven-Alexander.
Most of the opinions posted on here regarding Hitler are pathetic ignorant rubbish. Even the question topic is pretty banal.
1] He was not a good ruler in so far as he did not rule, he left "ruling" to others, who ruled in his name; he was very efficient at selecting the right people to do the work for him.
2] He was a brilliantly charismatic leader, indeed "Fuehrer" means "leader", and an hypnotically great orator and visionary.
3] He was a consummate politician and political manipulator, running rings round Chamberlain and Stalin and many others.
4] He was initially a brilliant war leader and strategist but he made several major mistakes as a result of the indecisiveness of his nature. Germany lost the war because of his having made two key wrong decisions: [a] not to wipe out the British Army when he had the opportunity and to allow it to escape at Dunkirk and fight on; [b] not to invade Russia in early May 1941 but to delay the decision until June when insufficient time remained to conquer the Soviets.
5] By diverting so many resources to the killing of Jews he weakened the German war effort.
6] By his refusal to negotiate in 1944, he prolonged the agony of Germany and thus was directly responsible for the obliteration of so many beautiful German cities and the Soviet takeover of Eastern Europe.
7] In conclusion, he was a disaster for Germany and Europe, however the view of Hitler is 1938 was different. Indeed the US publication, Time magazine, voted him "Man of The Year" for 1938.

It’s clear you all know very little about the topic as you all know a few bits and pieces but mix it all up with complete nonsense. First of all to sigh who thinks he knows so much. How did Hitler come to power by’sheer dumb luck’ when he spent the best part of fifteen years giving speeches on a daily basis and creating his party to get there? Does anyone understand what leadership is? When you have an unbelievable knack of picking the right person for a job, THAT IS LEADERSHIP! I have never even heard the maddest raving ratbag mention the piano-wire incident but I can assure you it’s garbage. His idea of entertainment was keeping his colleagues up until 3Am and watching love stories and romance. Hitler had no choice but to open another front with Russia as they had three hundred divisions on the border. He knew and wrote in Mein Khamf that a second front was suicide. Hitler did not ‘refuse to negotiate in 1944’ He attempted to negotiate from the start of the war rigght through. Even at the height of his powers did he offer peace. It was rejected categorically by Churchill and his cronies.

Hitlet was NOT only a good leader but he was an AMAZING leader. Leader-One who is in charge or in command of others. He brought Germany from nothing into a world power. He tryed to conquer the entire world is where he messed up, I dont think you can criticize one for failing to conquer the entire world either.

Depends on what you mean...Voted for by AndyHarper.
He was a very good and talented leader, but he was a very bad man. His skills as a leader were great, but the things he did with these skills were . . . I don't think a word exists to describe the atrocities. . . .

In some aspects yes he was a good leader. But would a good leader have over 6 000 000 innocent men, women, and children because of their beliefs? I don't think so.I think that if he and saddam houssain met they soon become fast friends. In case you had'nt noticed i hate him like hell

Hitler was no genius people. He could talk, he was a charmer, but he was no genius. I'm fascinated by this whole period in time and did MANY papers on this subject.
Energizer Bunny, I don't know where you got that information, but please remember that it would take A LOT longer than a month (even every second) researching to uncover the truth, history is penned by the winners. Remember that.
Now first of all Hitler came to power, despite any other piano-wire-killing-frenzy-theories, by sheer dumb luck. He was granted a high position, and then a very high position became open, and like anyone with two atoms of intelect Hitler swooped in and aquired the job.
He was very good at manipulation and an amazing motivational speaker, probably the best the world has ever seen, but he was not a leader. He brain washed the entire country. (example taken from school book."If there were 7 Jews and you killed 4, how may would be left?") Therefore he was a ruler, though a ruler with an amazing knack of picking people to do jobs for him. Yes he was evil, but a man of that position and power has to be. The genius were the people below him, the propagand master and so on.
If Hitler was smart he would have listened to his top men and not opened another war frontier with Russia, as opposed to keeping them at bay. He did the same mistake Napolean did, which was open two frontiers at opposite ends: meaning that not only did it take ages for reinforcements to get from one place to another, but he unknowingly trapped himself between two frontiers. Hitler also didn't wipe out the British when he had the chance, and he chose the wrong allies.
Please note that the above is factual. This is one of the few topics I know like the back of my hand, and with out coming off as all high and mighty,I am open to any questions or replies as regards this specific topic.
God Bless

That proves him to be a bad person but he was still a great leader. Many people come to power by luck. After that he was able to get everybody to believe they were the perfect race and the jewws were in the way. he had a way of getting everybody to believe he was right. He organized everything. How could that be a bad leader.

Too PowerfulVoted for by Iced Amber Rain.
Hitler was a good leader. he was able to get his entire nation oout from poverty and was able to let people earn a living. He was however, a bad ruler in the sense that power went into his head and destroyed him. He managed to show that the German people were not slaves or people that sjould be overlooked simply because they were on the losing side of WW1. After WW1 the German people had noway of making a living because everything was controlled by the Allies. Hitler should have considered his decsions more and not have goe aon a killing frensy. He was a good leader, but turned coat and becasue a ruthless murderer. He simply had too much power over his country folk.
