Do you think the world will end in 2012?

The movie 2012 is coming soon and it is raising questions.
  • not this again...
    It has as much chance as myself releasing the world's most powerful belch that will create such force to cause an earthquake.
    It has a much of a chance as a blue whale being able to fly in the sky. Or the classic "when pigs fly."

    So far there have been hundreds of recorded prophecies that dictate the end of all human life on Earth - with each one being just as wrong as the other.
    People thought Earth would be gone by 666, 2000... the list goes on (only named the most famous.) Who can say this one with absolute certainty that it will happen?

    the mayans wrote the calander or whatever and they just stoped doin it at 2012. i woulddnt want to write over like 3000 months worth would you? the poor guy prob got tired. the world will not end.

    John Cusack showed us that we can outdrive the apocalypse. Outdrive it to gigantic boats. Then the world stops ending or something and we rebuild without little-to-no turmoil in society.

    Well.. No one really know's because there has been controversey over this topic for a while now. I don't really believe it, but they are just trying to hipe it up by making the movie 2012. -_- I mean I get nervous when I see things that relate to it.. I highly doubt it.

    it's like Y2K all over again. everyone was scared when it reached 100 a.d. thinking the world was going to end. they thought it in 2000. and now 2012 just because the mayan calendar ends. maybe they got tired or died off before they could do anymore. this world is hooked to mass hysteria. it's like a drug you'll never get rid of.

    Maybe it will, maybe it won't. Why worry about it, it hasn't happened yet. If you spend your life worrying about what could happen in the future, it will stress you out and then you won't be able to enjoy the here and now.
    Like Vitalstatistix (from the Asterix books) had only 1 fear, that the sky might fall tomorrow, but like he always says, "Tomorrow never comes".

    Key points:
    Maybe the Maya didn't finish their calender because they got tired of adding on years, or the spanish had killed all of them off before they can continue it beyond the year 2012

    This happens around the end of every decade.
    1989... never happened
    Y2K... Never happened

    Let me restate, the maya didnot belive in the end of the world, along with most eastern cultures. It's a prospect created by western culture.
